Renovated 15th century farm house, Can Bernadas, Alella, is an idyllic spot. A short walking distance to town centre and 25 minutes from Barcelona center.
The 30 acre estate has 3 swimming pools using natural mineral water from the mountains, orange groves, our own lake and direct access to the national park. Alella is a popular wine and food destination. The beach and marina is just down the road.

If you need more spaces for a smaller group, that is always possible with some nominal surcharge.

This will be a great place for private relaxation and fun, a base for exploring Barcelona and the area.

The first records of the building date back to the 1400s. In the 19th century it was a farm and vineyard; we are restoring some of the vines but don't wait for us, head to town where you find some lovely local wine bars.

The house is at the foothills of the national park, and the natural well water feeds the water reserves and our lake. At the end of our old road into town you will pass Can Xeco Monnar, which we plan to rebuild in a few years time (from the 15th century.) Directly across from us you see the dramatic Torre del Governador and ruins of the agricultural school of Catalunya; this will someday be a 5* hotel.

A few notes:
- Its a great place for remote working: high-speed internet (1000Mb/s fibre), wifi everywhere and printer, but we encourage you to also unwind and go off-grid to totally relax. You will see why when you stay; it's a unique setting.

- Mok and I are often on the property and look forward to greeting you .

- Your pool is private; we take care of it each day while you are away.

- There is a second beautiful shared pool at the top of the hill with a view of the sea, with all natural water from our mountain reservoir.

- BBQs for the summer (gas and charcoal) plus fireplace for the winter. We have tons of firewood.

- Alberto the caretaker is there twice a day to tend to the garden at the top of the hill, he grows lots of things there.

- Alella has fantastic award winning organic Cava and several world-class wineries such as Alta Alella.

- Our two donkeys Valen and Pau are very friendly and great at trimming the lawns. Please say hello and bring carrots ! There are 7 sheep (they mow the lawn to keep it beautiful) .

- Solar power (during the day of course): we have 13 kWp installed so far to do our part on the environment - we like your help as well to take care of the planet.

Guest access
For groups of up to 8 guests in 4 bedrooms in the main level (2.5 bathrooms).
For groups with up to 10 guests, you will have 5 bedrooms
For groups with up to 12 guests , you will have an additional flat on the lower ground level (2 bedrooms, additional bathroom and kitchen).

For groups of 13 up to 15 guests we have additional guest rooms on the lower ground level (with additional full bathroom, kitchen corner and living room area).

If you prefer to have single-occupancy bedrooms, you are very welcome to reserve these additional spaces for a nominal room and cleaning fee.

You have exclusive use of the private pool (shown), terraces with bbq, very large living room and media, full furnished modern kitchen and pantry with washer dryer, four bedrooms and 2.5 bathrooms on the top level.

We have a large events-center (Patio 3). This is free to use only for our guests. You can invite others to use it too. Pricing of that is available on request.

Other things to note
Great for remote work: 1000Mb/s fibre broadband, wifi throughout, large TV, Sonos sound, and lovely walks on the estate and into the hills or village, nearby local bus to Barcelona centre and grocery store, 30 min to the Barcelona airport by car.

Where you’ll be

Alella, Catalunya, Spain

The area is stunning, at the foothills of the national park - beautiful for mountain running or early morning walk - but we are also close to town. Right across is the old agricultural school, which might someday be renovated - today looks like a castle and is not used. There is a small grocery store very close to the house and larger ones in the village centre.
