The apartment, as a whole, is exactly as described, however, do not read anything beyond the exact description given. The upstairs air conditioning unit is loud and not sufficient on its own to cool down the bedroom. Therefore one needs to turn on the fan, which is also provided, and it does add somewhat to the noise. It is definitely within walking distance of the beach and the local supermarket (where they have nice empanadas). Do not leave any food on the kitchen counter, as there are very small ants that will get into whatever you leave out. Once you are there you do not need a car. Beto, the manager, is fantastic, always available to help, and very knowledgeable. Grant is very helpful, very proactive and always quick to respond. They went out of their way to get us a bottle of distilled water that we needed for a medical device, saving us from having to spend the time to find where to get it upon arrival. One should, however, consider this as a place to sleep rather than a true house. Just like in all of Costa Rica, we felt completely safe in the neighborhood. It is also advisable to leave a light on when you go out in the evening as there are no light switches right by the door and you need to either go up or down stairs in the dark to turn on the light. The wi-fi worked very well.

Good place that's a 5-10 walk from downtown/beach. You probably won't spend much time in the bedroom upstairs other than sleeping as it has a slanted ceiling. We ended up using the twin bed as a couch. AC was nice as we'd spend time at the beach in the mornings/evenings then come back to Casa Pio during the afternoon heat. Laundry was available although we didn't use it.

Grant's place was in a great location and a great value for being able to explore all Tamarindo has to offer.

Our stay at grant's Casa pio was very nice. It's conveniently located a five minute walk from the beach, a grocery store, restaurants, coffee shops, gift shops and surf shops in tamarindo. It's up a small hill and located across from a security station attached to a condo complex. My car was parked out in front and wasn't touched all weekend. The home has a gate with a lock on it so it felt very secure. Once inside you'll find a lower floor with bathroom, Kitchn, a table for eating and a smaller bed and this area is also air conditioned. Upstairs is the main bed with a closet and also has AC and was very comfortable. Grant was great with communication and suggestions, we would highly recommend this location for being a far enough walk away that it was still quiet.. But safe and felt very authentic!

The place is nice, quiet and more where locals live. Its a 15 minute walk to the beach. The area can be a little dark at night but safe. Basic amenities and a good value.

We didn't met Grant, but he answered every question really quickly. Beto was the one who showed us everything. He was a great guy. All in all the place is what we expected and everything we needed was around. The street isn't paved, just keep that in mind if you're carrying a bigger bag with you.

I live in Bryan/College Station, TX. I work for a demographics firm that does enrollment projections for Texas school districts.
When I am not working I like to travel down to Costa Rica and visit my property in Tamarindo. I love Costa Rica because of it's sheer beauty and the wonderful people.
I have a main house on my property along with two newly remodeled apartments. I have my apartments for rent to travelers who want a comfortable place to stay, with all the American amenities.
Hopefully one day I can live in Costa Rica long term and enjoy a pura vida lifestyle!
