650 square meter tradition 1885 years old Spanish villa with picturesque setting near the mountains, the river, the city, and the beach.

The space

Take your breakfast outdoors, walk along the Xúcar river, get lost in the orchards, or sip tea in the garden as you share our spectacular family home with 18 of your closest friends and family members, plus you, of course!

The original home dates to (PHONE NUMBER HIDDEN) of traditional Spanish villa style join with a contemporary addition of 150m2—a bright space which has alternatively housed a yoga studio, artist residences, intimate musical performances, and large festive gatherings.

In total, the house has 1 triple bedroom, 5 doubles, 1 bedroom with two twins, 1 with a single twin, and 1 loft with a double bed (and two extra twin mattresses available on the side).
The home has two kitchens—a central kitchen on the ground floor with a refrigerator, a microwave, a toaster, a gas range, and a wide selection of paella pans for daring chefs ready to try the local specialty rice dish. The secondary kitchen is on the first floor, with a two-burner stove, a smaller refrigerator, and a washer + dryer. There are 4 toilets, 3 showers, 2 bidets, and 1 small tub.

Inside
-Spread out and play chess or read in the upstairs library, where you will find hundreds of books to browse in English, Spanish, Catalan, German, French, and Italian.
-Enjoy the sunny first-floor lounge to catch up on your writing or surf the web.
-Play piano on the baby grand on the ground floor.
-Sit around the fireplace, a favorite destination in the cooler months.

Outside
-Take a walk or bring your bike and pedal along the miles of country roads in the famous orange orchards of Valencia. Our land extends 60,000 m2, fully bordered by more orchards.
-Cool off in the aboveground pool.
-Find the secret spot to paddle down the river in one of our one-person kayaks (we have 2).
-Enjoy fruits right off the tree; orange season is November through June; meddlers and plums are ripe in May and June; figs await in August and September…the list goes on!
-Start a one-on-one game of basketball on the half-court (watch out for the ivy!)

If you’re able to pull yourself away from all of these experiences, the seashore is a quick 15 minutes by car (10 km) and a beautiful hike around the monastery ruins at La Murta is just 10 km in the other direction.

We have taken great care to preserve the original appearance of our family home. Period furniture, antique lamps, traditional tile floors, and wood beams give the house special character. You may find that there are some things that look and feel, well, old—know that our intention is just that and we have specially curated this style. While we have Wi-Fi and satellite TV—we’re usually too busy talking late after dinner to turn it on anyway. Our toilets handily do their job, but they don’t like paper. And though you might not find a matching set of twenty plates, there are plenty of blue-and-white patterned dishes for everyone. If you are looking for a peaceful setting to reconnect with friends and family, enjoy gorgeous sunsets, and sip a glass of Spanish wine, you have come to the right place. If you are looking for LED-lights and a chef’s kitchen, this may not be the perfect fit. That said, we really want to make your stay the best in can be and please let us know what we can do to help. Welcome to the countryside and enjoy your stay!

A wonderful place to stay! Me and my friends had a great time staying in this property. It's beautiful surroundings made it a perfect escape from London. The area is beautiful, surrounded by trees though a car is helpful as its a little way to the shops. The house is full of character with loads of places to relax and read or play chess during the day and sit and have a drink with friends in the evening. If you are looking for a beautiful escape I highly recommend staying here!

The villa is lovely. As Miguel explains, it is decorated and furnished in a traditional style. It does not have all modern appliances, and some people may find the absence of air conditioning difficult. However, we really enjoyed the villa - it has bags of character, lots of space and is in a nice area with access to local beaches, towns and Valencia. Miguel was warm and welcoming, and always available to answer our questions. Wonderful space for a large family or group of friends to relax and spend time together! Thank you very much!

This is a fantastic holiday setting, when we drove up the villa was very impressive and beautiful. If you like faded grandeur and the romantic shabby look this is the place for you. It is huge plenty big enough for nine guests, we enjoyed exploring the house and surroundings. Miguel spent a long time with us discussing places to go and things to do and was very responsive to queries during our stay. He also made it possible for us to go kayaking and use the pool which we did not expect, these things were really appreciated and made a big difference to our holiday. As he says the house is old so if you want piping hot showers this is not the house for you but what it lacks in mod cons it makes up for in elegance, size and personality. We were allowed to pick fruit from the trees (oranges, misposas, apricots, almonds, lemons) the grounds are massive great for nature walks, lots of wildlife and beautiful plants, oleander, bougainvillea, pine trees, fig trees it goes on and on. I would recommend it and may possibly return x

Thank you for your review Anna. I am glad you liked the house. Sorry about the lack of pipping hot water showers. Next time we will program the water heater to the maximum. I did not realize that you may want the water to be real hot. Best regards

Tranquile Grandesse spoiled by careless setup The old Villa could have been the highlight of our tradeshow stay, settled in orange groves in a very quiet area. However, we were utterly struck by avoidable disappointments. First of all, the 4 bathrooms turned out to be just 1 full bathroom, 1 shower and 2 toilets (not even having a vanity). Barely enough for a group of 8 people on a business trip. One of the better bedrooms has windows in its door – and don’t believe there were curtains for your privacy. While this is misleading information in the description, the brutal negligence of the barest principles of hosting make it worse: Most of the light bulbs are either non-existing or defunct – you can barely make out your own face in the bathroom mirror. Some of the power outlets disintegrate when you want to charge your phone, one of them burst in sparkles and made burning noises under the bed. The towels were hard to find and not suitable for their purpose. We tried to wash them since they smelled. The washing machine smelled worse. So we bought our own towels. The advertised swimming pool only is operational till end of August we were told - given all the junk lying around, we would not have enjoyed that garden anyway. Half of the deck chairs are unstable and mouldy – and of course there are no cushions available. The dishwashing utensils were stinky and dirty, we bought our own – btw, snails climb from the downpipe into the sink every night – Yuk! Your car will get scratched each time you arrive by bushes growing over the driveway. I should have become suspicious about the attention to detail when the driving instructions were published only in Spanish while all other details were in English. All in all a very unpleasant experience – and the age of the Villa is not an excuse.

Response from Miguel:
Wow! I must say I am startled by this review. I had never ever recieved critics like this. Firstly, I would like to apologize for all the inconviniences. Secondly, I would like to go throroughly through all the points and try to give an explanation, if possible. 1.- In the house there are 4 w.c. and 3 showers. Although there is only 1 full bathroom meaning a faucet, a bidé, a toilet and a bathtub placed in one space. 3 of the 4 w.c.s are separate spaces. In the old times they would place a w.c. in one space and the shower in another. Sorry if that did not suffice for 8 people. In other occasions we had 18, 20 and 23 guests and there was no complain. But I can understand standards of living can be understood in different ways. Sorry again. 2.- Bedroom with no curtains and windows in its door. It is true that the room has an old door that has a window in its superior part. However the glass of the window is translucid, not transparent. Never any one complained before, but from now on we will give our new guests a cloth so that people can hang it from a pair of nails if they think the translucid glass does not provide them with enough privacy. 3.- Problems with lights... In this 650 square meter -6500 square feet- house, there are over 60 light bulbs, over 50 power points and 35 switches. I am terribly sorry if some of them did not work. However there was a drawer with extra light bulbs. I will make sure that next time we tell our guests where that drawer is. But I dont agree that most of the light bulbs dont work. That would mean that over 30 light bulbs dont work, and that is not the case. But again, sorry if some of them did not work. It was our mistake not telling you where the extra light bulbs where. In what reffers to the brightness and intensity of the light, we will change the 60v bulb lights in the bathroom for 100v. 4.-Towells. This problem with the towells puzzles me the most, because we bought Ikea towells in july. And the washing machine was bought two years ago. I cant understand its smelling, unless something weird happened. I checked after this review and it looked normal to me. I really dont know what to do when it comes to this problem. I will tell our new clients to take a look at it and see if they spot any weird smell before they check in. I truly apologize, I can not imagine what on earth happened to the washing machine. 5.- swimming pool is only operational during the summer, that is right. Junk around? Well, you are in a 50.000 m2 orchard of irrigated and cultivated land. Some of the peasants may have drop some litter while working. The plot of land is huge and we cannot make sure that the workers do not drop something now and then. I will talk to them anyway. However people tend to enjoy the variety of fuit trees and they normally pick up oranges and have fresh orange juices. It makes me sad that you could not enjoy that either. 6.- chairs and cushions. There are plenty of them in the house. The problem may be that we should have left some of the chairs and cushions outside. However, we thought our clients would take them out of the house and put them back in again. I can understand some chairs being mouldy, since some of them are over 100 years old. But there are also other new chairs you can take out. There is a set of 6 plastic chairs for that purpuse. Sorry again, next time we will try to clarify that point when our clients arrive and make sure we place some adequate chairs outside. 7.- dishwashing utensils. here I agree we may have made a mistake by leaving so many cuttlery peaces in the pantry. There was a stack of extra plates and piles of trays. They were meant for parties when a lot of people get together, not for 8 clients. The utensiles we thought you would use were not in the pantry but in the cupboard. Again our mistake for not pointing that out. 8. Snails climbing the pipe! Some snails creep in from the country, that is an inconvenient we cannot help since the house is in the country side. We do not collect them or anything though. And that happening every night, that is something unheard of, I promisse. But again sorry. We will tell the cleaning person to double check in the look out for snails or any other bugs. 9.- Bushes growing over the drive way. I must say we did that on purpuse to give charm to the property. I will tell the gardener to clean that off, but I must say I never imagined that climbing plants like an hedera helix could scratch a car. No thorny bushes of course, just fine leaves, but as I said i will clear that off. 1o-. Suspcious about the translation in English of how to get there. Sorry about that, we forgot to translate that part into English, we will sort that out asap. But I assure you there is no conspiracy to scratch the cars of native English speakers. All in all, very sorry about you having an unpleasent expirience and I apologize once again for making so many mistakes. However, your review we'll help us to change many things and we will humbly try to improve. Thanks a lot

Miguel was a great and flexible host. Despite our delayed arrival, Miguel was patient to wait for us at the villa and gave us a warm welcome. Miguel was also flexible when we locked ourselves outside during our stay and provided us with additional keys to the villa. The location of the villa is great. We loved all the greens and serenity. The drive to the beach and Valencia are very doable and provided diversity in activities during our stay. There were also Water Parks nearby allowing our kids to have a blast. The villa itself has a lot of spaces and lots of potentials. Like the other guests said and as Miguel introduced it, it is not a luxury Villa where you relax by the pool the whole day. It is authentic in its own way and but you have to be able to live with cracks in the wall, spider webs on the ceiling here and there, old sofas and beds which could be uncomfortable from time to time, and a lack of air-conditioning. It's quite an experience. We thoroughtly enjoyed the fresh figs from the tree in front of the home. The kids loved the pool despite of its relative small size and quite a distance from the house. But being city flks used to living in clean and modern environment, it took some getting used to for us. But because of some of the inconveniences, it does gets you out of the door a lot so that you can explore the area. I reckon a car is definitely needed.

We had a great stay in Miguel's mansion. It is a perfect location for a (large) group of people for visiting the beautiful city of Valencia and other one-day trips (seaside and walking trails). Although the house is not new (so not for people looking for a luxury place), it is very charming and the hosts are wonderful, warm people. The smell of orange flowers and the taste of fresh orange juice will be in our memories forever, and we also keep good memories on the cooking of our paëlla outside (everything you need is available and it's a perfect meal after a visit to the Mercado Central in Valencia where you can buy all the fresh ingredients). We consider coming back later if we want to visit the area again !!
