Aboard our boat "Orlik" we offer one of the best quality conversion accomodation for a genuine fishing trawler, Our double queen size beds are quite unusual on converted trawler yachts but we have gone the extra mile to make you feel relaxed aboard.
We have two guest cabins each with a double queen size bed.
Our prices are on a per cabin basis starting from £120 per cabin per night per cabin

The space

Orlik our converted trawler Yacht is moored IN THE SEA ( depending on the weather) just off the west end of the Caladonian Canal looking onto Ben Nevis or at the top of Neptunes Staircase looking onto Ben Nevis.
When we are anchored in the sea we ferry our guests onboard using our tender boat.
We can take on short trips using the tender boat if the weather is good.
From here we can cruise along the canal for 5 miles to Gairlochy and into Loch Lochy when the weather is good. Orlik has two double cabins each with its own private shower room. Orlik is a real deep sea fishing trawler that fished in the northern North Sea going as far north as Iceland in the Summer months, this little ship is built fro solid oak and weighs in at 80 tons, powered by an authentic Gardner engine and having been converted to a real home on the water at a cost of over £300,000 she offers a very unique Bed & Breakfast of the water that has the facility to mover around when required. The raileway station and bus stop are 5 minutes walk where you can go to Fort William (2 miles) or there is the option to travel to Mallaig on the famous "Harry Potter" train route. From our mooring at the top of Neptunes Staircase is a great walking base whether you prefer walking on the level to explore the canal or head for the glens and mountains, or just walk to Fort William which is 3 miles on foot. Here is the start of the Great Glen Way.

This bnb is on a beautiful boat with great views of fort William and Ben Nevis. Michael and Lorna made us feel very at home, and we adored dogs fergus and belle. The Orlik is a lovely boat, and perfect location for our trip up the Ben. Breakfast was delicious, as well as whisky.

Our family of four had a great experience onboard Orlik. We were in Fort William for the mountain bike championships but would have loved more time to see the surrounding area. We have decided we'd like to come back for another stay onboard and explore further. Michael and Lorna made us feel at home from the very start. We enjoyed passing time round the table with so many interesting stories to hear and the bedrooms were exactly as described, fitted to a high standard and very comfortable. Our boys loved playing with the dogs and it's lucky Fergus wasn't stowed away to come home with us. If he ever needs a home when you're on holiday you know where we are! Breakfast was a real highlight too with plenty to choose from and very relaxed. We look forward to our return trip.

Incredible. We were looking for something slightly different than the good old fashioned TravelLodge that you can find in every town and boy did we stumble across something amazing with this boat! Our hosts Mike and Lorna (and Fergus & Belle) made this feel like a home from home. Lorna made a hearty breakfast in the morning- just what was needed before our big walk. In the evenings Mike and Lorna had some handy inside knowledge of the places that were good for dinner, even offering us a lift there when the weather was a little drizzly. Upon returning from dinner the wine came out as we sat and chatted about the other things on our 'to do' list and life in general. Our double bedroom and bathroom were spotlessly clean. The dogs remained upstairs and now we are home we miss their adorable faces in the morning, we even found Fergus' Blog which we will be keeping an eye on to see what adventures he gets up to next! We honestly cannot rate this highly enough! Mike and Lorna feel like part of the family that we have known for a lifetime and we will definitely be going back. We may even try the Scottish Marine Safari!

It was a pleasure staying with Michael and Lorna they are great hosts and we had a lovely time chatting to them and getting to know them. The space is clean and cosy and we were warmly welcomed by Michael, Lorna and their two adorable dogs, Fergus and Belle. They really went out of their way to make our stay comfortable and even waited up for us on the day we had a nightmare drive back due to a road closure.forcing us to leave our car parked up and walk 30 minutes to the boat. Tea and biscuits were there on our late return (11.30pm) and a lift back to the car in the morning. Also their recommendations for restaurants, directions to activities and general knowledge of the area was spot on. We couldn't have asked for a better experience, thank you!

Our stay with Michael and Lorna was great. I took my fiancé and parents and we all enjoyed ourselves sleeping on the boat Orlik. Michael and Lorna prepared the most amazing breakfast's for us, they were always very welcoming offering us a cup of tea when we came in for the afternoon and they gave us maps and ideas of where to go during the day. Orlik was in excellent condition. Perfect hosts. Cannot recommend them highly enough.

We've just had four wonderful days with Lorna & Michael. Other reviews have spoken of being treated like family from the outset & that was so true. You can't imagine warmer, lovelier, more attentive & accommodating hosts. This is so much more than a B&B, staying in a cosy, lovely converted trawler, a real treat. Lorna's fresh breakfasts set us up for the day, we could come & go, & they advised us on local stuff to do. We gained a wee insight into their life aboard (this is also a home), & they took us up the Caley Canal in Ben Nevis's shadow to moor in Laggan for a night - we even got to take the wheel! Intriguing to think that our berth had once stored the catch! And there's a furry treat: Belle & Fergus are cuddly seadogs & great company (they don't go into the berth deck). We cannot overstate how fabulous out stay was.The Fab Four also provided great on-board entertainment, with great yarns, lots of laughs & warmth, fascinating facts. And so much warmth. We'd wondered why there were few recent reviews but Michael & Lorna have been living the dream in European ports - go hear their stories of Bergen & Lubbeck. For us a rather last minute arranged weekend in Fort William, watching the weather before we committed to going, turned into a real treat!!

I am skipper owner of the converted trawler Orlik which fished in the North Sea in the 1960s fishing as far North as Iceland in the Summer months. I spent 20 years fishing on a similar boat to Orlik and now look after our guests in much calmer water in Scotland.
