About this listing
Enjoy full use of this 2-bedroom cottage that is close to everything in Midtown Indianapolis. Walk to grocery, bars and restaurants. Bike to Broad Ripple Village. A quick ride to Butler, Downtown and anywhere on the north side. Sleeps four. Dogs welcome. Non-smoking. WiFi . Kitchen.
This little place has hardwood floors, cozy rooms, a small, complete kitchen, and beds for 4+. (We have 1 queen, 1 full, a small futon you can pull out of the closet.) But the place is really all about the location. You can walk and bike to all the amenities, and it is a quick ride to most of the City.
The home has a furnished living room, a kitchen with a cafe-style table, a smaller bedroom and a larger bedroom. Hardwood floors. The home has central air and heat. There is also a large yard in the back, not fenced. A washer/dryer in the basement. There is an Internet-capable TV with an HD broadcast antenna that can stream Netflix and other services and pick up local stations using your own log in to these services. (There is no cable service & certain broadcast channels may not come in very well.)
Guests will have the whole apartment. We keep two older, classic bicycles in the garage for guest use. You'll not win any races or conquer any trails on them, but you can toodle around town to your heart's content as they've been restored and tuned up.
Interaction with guests
We can meet you for move-in, move-out as seems good to you, but we usually just provide instructions and lockbox access. (Self-serve!) During your stay you will have the place to yourself.
The 54th & College commercial node has recently come to life with:
* Fresh Market--gourmet/organic grocery with prepared and semi-prepared meals, wine & beer.
* Twenty Tap bar with excellent food
* Yatz -- cheap eats in the Cajun, Creole style: etouffe, jambalaya, creole, chili.
* Also: Cornerstone Coffee House, Moe & Johnny's, Jazz Kitchen, BeBop Pizza Kitchen, Fat Dan's Deli (Chicago-style brats & dogs), Yogu-latte, Sammy's Gyro's. It's all local and all good.
For more nightlife and dining options, you need to check out both Broad Ripple Village and 52nd & College as well.
You'll be just two blocks from the Monon Trail which runs from 246th Street in Noblesville to 10th Street downtown at one end of the Massachusetts Avenue cultural district. From there you can pick up the cultural trail and ride all through downtown's neighborhoods. The Monon is friendly and welcoming to walker, runners, cyclists, but no motorized of any kind. At the 54th & Monon entrance is Locally Grown Gardens with seasonal produce and homemade pies, and the like. Often offers smoked salmon suppers to take away. Just east of there are a few more cool shops and a breakfast place, Zest.
There is a lot more and am happy to share. We will be building more resources as we get the place up and running.
Our city bus service is called IndyGo, so you search that out for routes and schedules. The Monon Trail was described above. Lyft and Uber have come to town, and ZipCars can be found at Butler University. BlueIndy is our electric car-sharing service. Once you get downtown you can look for the yellow Pacers Bike Share for local rents, but there are no station in Midtown where the Cottage is located.
Other things to note
We've stayed with AirBnB hosts in London, Montreal, Massachusetts, and other places but we're coming up on 3 years that we've been hosting. Please offer suggestions to make your stay more pleasant, and please leave feedback if you had a great stay.
The base pricing is for 2 adults. For add'l adults please add $20/night per person. If you have kids with you, just price it based on the adults.
House rules are simple: Guests are expected to leave the home as they found it and respect the guest on the other side of the duplex by keeping the music and voice levels at reasonable levels after 9:00pm. Guests are asked to wash their own dishes, strip the beds and gather used towels in a laundry bag, and carry their trash to the outside bins. We ask for no smoking in the home, and no throwing of butts in the yard. Dogs are welcome, but we expect you to pick up after 'em. And....enjoy your visit!! Please let us know if we can do anything to make your stay better. We aren't on site, but we aren't far and will respond if we possibly can.
