La Charnière is located in the Chadalais, in the town of Maisonnais-sur-Tardoire, in the Regional Natural Park Périgord Limousin. We are on the borders of Charente, Haute-Vienne and Dordogne, halfway between Angoulême and Limoges.

La Charnière is a former worker's cottage and pigsty which has been beautifully restored to offer guests a comfortable lounge, a modern and well-equipped kitchen, indoor and outdoor dining areas and an en suite bathroom with walk-in shower.

The bedroom offers a comfortable super king-size bed on a spacious mezzanine with views of the surrounding countryside. All bedding and towels are provided and are of high quality. All bedding has fresh protectors on for all guests assuring you of hygiene and comfort. La Charnière is also able to accommodate one child up to the age of 2, and a travel cot and highchair can be provided.

The kitchen is well equipped and stocked with basic supplies to assist our guests. There is a small gas range with hobs and single oven, fridge-freezer, microwave plus a Tassimo coffee machine. The kitchen and dining area is well stocked with cutlery, crockery, glassware and utensils to cover all needs during your stay. The lounge offers a comfortable and cosy space with leather sofa, and high-quality soft furnishings. For the cooler months there is underfloor heating.

La Charnière offers a flat-screen HDTV with UK Freesat, Orange TV (French), USB capability and Netflix. There is a DAB/ FM Radio with a Bluetooth speaker and a dedicated wi-fi connection for the property.

La Charnière has its own private outdoor space; a 100m2 screened and fenced rear garden with a paved terrace, BBQ/ dining area and a lawn for your exclusive use. There is a large parasol for shade on sunnier days. The garden includes your private 2/3 seater Jacuzzi, available all year round. There is direct access from the garden to a shared seasonal 4m x 8m heated outdoor pool (shared only occasionally with the proprietors) and an additional sun terrace. This will be available May - September but may be extended as weather permits.

All linen (bedding and towels) are provided on arrival as well as a selection of branded toiletries. There are also lots of little extras to make your stay enjoyable and special!

The property is on the other side of the driveway from our house but offers complete separation and privacy. The gite and its garden are completely enclosed and are not overlooked by our own property, nor any neighboring properties (most of which are empty a majority of the year) offering a peaceful, private and undisturbed stay.

Our rates include linen, electricity, gas and local taxes at no extra charge. All guests are greeted with a basket of essentials, including some local products. We can also arrange meals on arrival or breakfast for the following morning if you arrive late in the day.

La Charnière is close to many beautiful places to explore, dine, sunbathe, swim or picnic. A comprehensive information package is provided to guests with details of local towns, villages and places of interest, maps of the area, details of events during your stay, and suggestions for dining options. from traditional brasseries to Michelin star cuisine.

Ideal for those wishing to explore the Limousin countryside, right in front of the gates, we have access to a path leading to a network of off-road tracks suitable for walking or cycling. For those who prefer to explore on two wheels, we can provide secure storage space for guests who wish to bring their own bike, or we can also offer bike rental packages to our guests.

La Charnière is a clean and well-presented property located in the Parc naturel régional Périgord-Limousin. Located in the Chadalais (87440), part of the commune of Maisonnais-sur-Tardoire, we are surrounded by woodland and trees, but with local amenities being accessible within a short drive.

The property is set back from a quiet lane. The small hamlet of Chadalais is a mixture of charming and friendly French and English inhabitants. We have very few neighbors nearby, and fields and woodland to the front of the property offering peace and tranquility during your stay.

We are a short drive (approx 3km) from a small village Les Salles Lavauguyon with a bakery and café/ bar, and a little further is Saint Mathieu (approx 9km) with a supermarket, post office, bakery, tabac, two restaurants and a bar. Although we are in a rural area, we are located at the border of three borders of popular departments - Limousin, Charente and Dordogne - many beautiful towns and villages are within a short drive, as well as a host of other activities and places to visit.

We are lucky to be in one of the gastronomic capitals of the world. That means we have wonderful local cuisine ranging from Michelin-starred gourmet restaurants to exceptional pastries. In a region renowned for its regional specialties such as foie gras, truffles and chestnuts, food festivals and markets are regularly organized in various local villages throughout the year.

We live in the main house all year and, while remaining discreet during your stay, we are available if necessary to answer any questions concerning the property or the activities during your stay either by phone or in person. We speak English and French.
