Hunting season is in full swing: be comfortable in a remodeled 100 year-old rustic cabin in glorious, scenic&secluded one-of-a kind setting on Warm Springs Crk just minutes to the hot springs. Enjoy modern conveniences (Full kitchen, WIFI/wifi cell, TWO toilets (incinerating & pissoir) while living in the past! So close to the water you can fish from the back door, but as such WE DON'T HAVE RUNNING WATER! Only 20 mins from 5 Star food/amenities in SV, yet BIG GAME right out your back door.

The space

PLEASE CONTACT ME IF YOU DESIRE ONE NIGHT OPEN BETWEEN BOOKINGS. In reality, running water is way overrated. Living at the cabin for years, I've developed a simple system that makes it homey and comfortable without being too inconvenient. In addition, it's educational to realize how little water one person (or family) truly needs to exist: an Enlightening and Fulfilling Adventure. BTW: Incinerating toilet (The Inshiterator) is for solids, the Pissoir, an antique 19th Century commode, is for liquids: again, this is a Blast from the Past. The 2 beds in the bedroom are actually one queen downstairs and a Double in the loft above, which is open to the bedroom on the E side, so visually separated but not sound proof. As well, in the common space (the "old" cabin) there is a futon bed (double) and I can also set-up a comfy old-school cot (single.) PS: I also supply the drinking/cooking water.

Guest access

You get the entire cabin (and The Great Outdoors) all to yourself. Hiking, fishing, biking, swimming, floating the river (carefully), Frenchman's Hot Springs (2 miles/5 minutes away), and all that Sun Valley has to offer is right outside your cabin door. Please enjoy an experience that you will never forget.

Interaction with guests

You might run into me upon arrival and/or departure, since I stay at the cabin when it's not rented...I also like to meet my guests (if I can) to give them the "rundown" on the place: this is NOT your typical rental. Additionally, I'm always available by phone/text and email.

Other things to note

Very private and secluded, at the end of a dead-end lane, so no one driving by (if there even happens to be anybody else in the neighborhood). Besides a plethora of mountain songbirds, enjoy the other animals including Herman the Ermine who lives across the stream, Mother Duck and her brood who swim upstream in the morning, back downstream in the afternoon, and Funny Bunny who has a residence near by. Deer, elk, moose, and beaver are just some of the "attractions". This is an excellent place for children (and infants are probably OK) but due to the proximity to flowing water I would NOT recommend bringing toddlers or anyone (thing) you might not be able to keep track of. Also, no pets: I have yet to meet a dog who doesn't like to chase down furry creatures...and they were here first. Unfortunately bringing your dog will minimize your wildlife experience, as all of the neighbors will go into hiding.

Re: children. Although this place is fantastic for kids (I brought up my two boys here) safety is my main concern. This recommendation depends on the child: up to 1+ OK, but once they start getting self motivated and mobile (ie, start walking) up until they have enough self awareness/self preservation and can obey instructions to stay away from the water's edge (roughly age 5 or 6?) then I'd leave them with Grandma and enjoy a much needed romantic week away from it all.

Location does not get any better. This cabin is exactly as described and the perfect getaway for my family. It's not a "luxury" cabin but it has everything you need and more. My son caught us a couple of rainbow trout (license required), my husband chopped up some wood, and we cooked it on the outdoor fire pit. Having recently moved from Hawaii, we are not always acclimated to the cold and I was a little worried about the fireplace providing sufficient heat. Not a problem! True to word, the entire cabin was warm enough for shorts. We just bought an expensive Hot Tub,- Frenchman's Hot Springs was better,- and free. My family is now obsessed and we are shopping for our own magical cabin in the woods. Until then, I expect Laird will be hearing from us again.

I'm so glad that you guys were able to take advantage of all that the cabin had to offer, and I really look forward to seeing you again! I'm a realtor as well, so will keep my eyes open for a "zen retreat" to call your own...

This cabin is the perfect place to stay if you're not afraid of giving up a few modern conveniences. It was easier than I expected to get used to not having running water. It was absolutely gorgeous, right on the water, and everything matched Laird's descriptions perfectly. He was a great host, offering us lots of detailed advice on fun local things to do. We hiked, we visited Frenchman's Hot Springs, we ate and drank all over downtown Ketchum. Can't recommend it highly enough!

Thanks (URL HIDDEN) was wonderful having you guys enjoy my cabin! It's tough trying to maintain a five star rating on a place with no running water, so I appreciate your projecting me towards that goal. You guys were 5-Star for sure!

Laird's cabin truly is a gem! We enjoyed our stay and loved hearing the river just outside the cabin. We took long naps in the afternoon with our kids and were able to unwind, which is exactly what we were looking for! Laird was communicative and shared some great advice on hikes and Mountain Bike trails in the area! He was a terrific host. The cabin is in a small community of other cabins so you aren't completely secluded, however you do have all the privacy you would want. Not having any running water wasn't as big of a challenge as one might think! We have AT&T coverage and didn't have any cell reception at the cabin, however wifi is provided and allowed us to get a little work done. We did feel the cabin would be amazing with a few minor tweaks that we shared with Laird. Hoping he can implement a few of the things we shared to make this cabin phenomenal!

Spencer and Tracy...I love your recommendations and will be implementing them all this fall! I've been crazy busy remodeling my Airbnb "In Town Oasis", but now with that 4bd/3ba complete, my attention reverts to the cabin. I look forward to you returning to witness the changes! thanks, Laird

We loved our stay at this private and rustic cabin. We brought bikes and explored the fire roads and trails all the way to Sun Valley. It's about a 30 min bike ride to town where there are ample groceries, cafes, restaurants, and breweries. Then you get to come back home to tranquility. Also: hot springs are a short bike ride or drive away!

We really enjoyed our stay at Laird's cabin. Laird was friendly and his instructions about the cabin were extremely helpful! It's a perfect place to just relax while you take in the beautiful scenery. We especially enjoyed how close it was to the hot springs!

A great setting. The accommodation is funky, reminiscent of my hand built hippie home from the 70s. Laird was very clear about the accommodations. The bed was comfy with cozy pillows and sheets. If you are looking for great views and a hot spring close by without being needy, this place works well.

Pilot and serial entrepreneur. Having fun is more fun than work, but if I don't work fun is not as fun. That said, I'm happiest when my work involves other people and working with them. Life is a you'd better be on the rocket!
