Beautiful 1918 Norwegian farm house centrally located near downtown Poulsbo (approximately 25 minute walk to Front Street, a few minutes drive away), 2500+ square feet, 3 bedroom with bonus room, 1.5 baths, with 4 custom water features (ponds and waterfalls with lighting), on one acre of custom landscaped property with many outdoor entertainment areas. Sorry, we are firm on absolutely no pets.

The space

This beautiful old Norwegian farmhouse has been updated and is located on a beautifully landscaped acre in a safe and peaceful rural neighborhood. It was previously Rockwater Art Center, where art retreats were hosted (we still offer some private art instruction, ask if you are interested). One enters via the front deck french doors (lock box off to left of entry) to a beautifully welcoming front sitting/sun room. A separate lockable door opens to the main living room of the home. Although there are efficient cadet heaters and an electrical furnace (in basement), a beautiful Jotul propane stove efficiently heats the home from this living room. Hardwood floors and tile; built-in bookcases, lead glass energy efficient windows, high ceilings, wainscott, tongue and groove ceiling, old world charm with beautiful architectural elements abound. Mud room/pantry, dining room, master bedroom walk-in closet, charming upstairs with 2 bedrooms and a dormer window "bonus" room with a twin bed and additional futon bed. Family room with full sofa bed and bay window seat overlooking beautiful "infinity" pond and waterfall.

CHILDREN: We ask that children be accompanied by an adult at all times. No entering or playing in water features.

INFANTS: We have a baby bassinet and swing available for infants at an additional charge, please ask.

CENTRALLY LOCATED: Even though it feels like it is out in the country, there is handy access to everything close by. One hour from Seattle via 30 minute ferry ride, then 30 minute drive. 71 miles from Seattle-Tacoma International Airport if driving around through Tacoma. Less than 5 miles to Keyport and Trident/Bangor main gate. Close to Puget Sound Naval Shipyard. 12 miles to Hood Canal Bridge. Centrally located just outside of Poulsbo city limits, a few minutes from Bangor and Keyport. Walking distance to elementary school, downtown Poulsbo, shopping, dining and Olhava shopping center services. 12 minutes to Old Town Silverdale, 25 minutes to Bainbridge ferry, 20 minutes to Kingston and Bremerton ferries. Although less than a minute from freeway on-ramp, it is a quiet and peaceful rural neighborhood.

PROPERTY: A big yard with plenty of space for recreation. Professionally landscaped with trees, shrubs and perennial cut-flower garden "rooms" and grounds, rock walls and stone work, arbor, outdoor stone seating, old growth fruit trees (two cherries, one plum, two apples and several others) on gated one acre; excellent entertainment spaces, including outdoor lighting and 4 custom water features, 1 outdoor fireplace, 2 outdoor fire pits, all with seating. Fully fenced, deck with wrap around seating.

Outbuildings and asphalt sports court area is shared with some of owner's heavy landscape equipment. Owner and crew access property during weekdays and occasionally other days, for coming and going at front of property, large carport area. Full basement is used by owner to store personal items and is off limits.

Owner is a landscaper and keeps landscaping heavy equipment at giant cedar carport at front of property for week-day use and comes and goes at front of property occasionally.

Guest access

Full run of entire home (except for basement, where owner stores items). Large cedar carport at entrance of property and outbuildings are also used by owner only.

Interaction with guests

Owners live off-site 30 minutes away, but occasionally visit front of property to access business equipment or park vehicle(s).

Other things to note

This is an old Norwegian farmhouse that has been updated and a great place to chillax. There are a few steps leading into the home (no wheelchair ramps). There are steep stairs to the upstairs 2.5 bedrooms. There are two wide stairs leading to the family room (has a full size sleeper sofa) and master bedroom (queen size bed). We ask that no one enter or adjust any of the four water features and that all take safety precautions around water (children must be accompanied by an adult at all times). There are several firepit areas. No fires during burn bans, but as allowed fires in firepit(s) must be watched closely and be extinguished if you are not present/nearby.

This farm house is an absolute perfect home for a family vacation. Carrie and Jeff were great hosts and the experience was exactly what we wanted. Easy access from the highway, but you feel like you are way out in the country. Quiet and peaceful.
