This was my first bad experience with Airbnb, and it was horrible. To be upfront, this was a new listing with no reviews when I booked, but I took a chance because the host had decent reviews on other properties. If you are coming here from another listing in a similar situation: It's the host that was the problem. We never actually stayed in this listing because the host claimed a previous tenant lost the key. If we had been told that before our arrival, it might not have been such a bad experience. But we received no communication from the host himself. We arrived around 6 p.m., and our only check-in instructions from Dacoh were to contact his friend/colleague, Abdel, for the key. Well, Abdel wasn't answering his phone. For some reason, the house cleaner was still cleaning the place at that time (even though it was supposed to be available as early as 3) and let us into the apartment to wait for the official check in. When Abdel finally answered the phone he told me that he was looking for the key and would call me back. He never did. After waiting for an hour, I contacted Airbnb customer service, who eventually got in touch with Abdel. He told them he would be over with the key in 5 minutes. Instead, he called me to say the key was lost and the reservation would have to be canceled and refunded. This was at 8 p.m., and we were forced to spend our night searching for last-minute accommodations. Even if none of this had happened, I would still be writing a negative review. None of the amenities from the listing (wifi, iron, hair dryer) were available in the apartment, which would have made a big difference on a business trip. In addition to dealing with Dacoh (the host) and Abdel (the key guy), a third member of this operation called me just after the listed check-in time to collect a 15% room tax. I pushed back because this was never mentioned on the listing and I was never contacted about it before arriving, and he agreed to waive the tax collection. But I'm left wondering if this is when the key mysteriously disappeared...

If you're a college student traveling to Montreal, this place is fine. It's in a great location. If you're a business traveler, I do not recommend staying here.

This person and this condo were absolutely terrible. He was very hard to contact. He ignored text messages and did not answer calls. I was sitting in the airport looking for other hotels when he finally answered the text. He then directed me to another address several blocks away to get the key. We had to walk all our luggage over after. The condo was brutal. It was dirty, and was dangerous as well. It had furniture from somewhere else stored in it. The smoke alarm, mirror glass, light fixtures and sofa bed were broken. There was no internet or tv or (URL HIDDEN) was brutally hot and the window screen was missing so bugs came in. One light fixture above the bed was broken and you could bash your head into it. There was a piece of broken glass under the broken sofa bed, and an old torn up sock inside the broken bed. We ended up leaving after the first night, and spent a lot of money on a last minute hotel for the remaining 3 nights. I requested a refund, and he offered less than 50% back. I am still waiting for airbnb to review. I would steer clear of this persons properties.

Dacoh was a great host. The Loft is located beautifully in Old Montreal with everything within a 5-10min walk. Cafes, bars, restaurants, Old Port, and pretty much anything els you could look for. Would highly recommend for anyone looking to stay in the Old Montreal area.

This host has 191 reviews for other properties.
