Zara Cottage is a 1930's art deco styled home on an isolated farm off Route 62. Three seperate bedrooms, lounge, open plan kitchen dining room. Fully equipped self catering. 2 bathrooms.
Zara Cottage is a wonderful throw back to the easy living of the 1930's, but has all the luxuries of contemporary living. This is an ideal getaway for families and friends.
Guests are welcome to explore our property, but also have access to wonderful walks on surrounding farms. There is plenty of open space to stretch the legs, and brilliant clear skies for night owls.
We are fortunate enough to have the Touwsberg Private Nature Reserve less than 500m from our gate, allowing our guests access to unspoiled nature and wild life - giraffe/kudu/eland/zebra/ etc. The reserve is easily reached by either car or bicycle, or on foot.
For those who need to soak their muscles after a long walk, we have a hot springs resort less than 12km from our farm.
Interaction with guests
Other than the initial meet and greet, we pride ourselves on respecting our guests privacy. We are, however, available 24/7 for any queries.
Other things to note
There is plenty out-door shaded area, braai facilities, and first nights bag of wood is provided. Extra wood is available for purchase.
All bedding and towels are provided.
We have very few ground rules for our guests, but we do ask them to respect the environment and historical nature of our accommodation.

My partner and I are keen international travellers, and attempt to explore a new part of the world at least once a year. Andre took early retirement from an IT career in Cape Town, and moved to our farm in the Klein Karoo to escape the hustle and bustle of the city. I have been managing the cottages since 2006. We enjoy going for long mountain bike rides every morning through the game reserve adjacent to our property, have a passion for architecture and history, and are keen veggie gardeners (which is a challenge in the desert). All our cottages are fully equipped and private, but we are always on hand to give any advice required, and to chat about the history of the farm... although we think it more essential to afford the guests the peace and quiet that they came for. We look forward to meeting you, and sharing with you our little piece of Klein Karoo heaven.
