Cheia village is located in the heart of the Apuseni mountains of Transylvania, right next to the beautiful Ramet Gorges (Cheile Rametului) as well as three other beautiful gorges, Cheile Pravului, Cheile Piatra Bălții and Cheile Geogelului. We are surrounded by two rivers, wild forests, majestic mountains and landscapes.

The space

The guesthouse is a renovated, traditional Romanian house from the 19th century with straw roof, kept in the way it used to be 100 years ago.

If you would like to book the second room in the same house with another double bed, please contact us.

Amenities:

- In the guesthouse there is no electricity. Light is made with headlamps. Please bring a headlamp, if possible. Your phone can be charged at the main house with solar power.

- There is no WiFi but cell signal (Orange is the best provider and has 4G)

- The outdoor shower is open only from around mid March until mid November (when the temperatures are above 0 degrees at night)

- The weather in Cheia is fresh even in summer. Please always bring some warm clothes for the evenings.

How to get here:

- Make sure you know exactly where the location is before you book. We are living in the mountains.

- It is not recommended to arrive at night.

- The road by car is from Aiud to Râmeț to Bradești (27km). WE DO NOT RECOMMEND OTHER ROUTES by car. A taxi from Aiud to Bradești costs around 100 lei. The best parking in Brădești is next to the church.

- From Bradești you will walk by foot, 1 - 1,5 hours on the tourist trail (blue cross). You will have to cross a shallow river several times, so we recommend gum boots or a second pair of shoes to change.

- We also offer pick up from Bradești to Cheia (and back) to carry your luggage (or yourself) by horse for an extra fee.

- Another way to arrive by foot is through the river at Râmeț Gorges. If you need information on this trail, please contact us.

Food:

- You have access to the outdoor kitchen to prepare your own food.
- At an extra cost and on request we offer breakfast and/or dinner.

Additional details:

- We ask everyone to take their trash with them when they leave, because we do not have the facilities for recycling.

- ⚠️ In case of excessive rain over several days, the river may become big. Depending on this circumstance the access to us might be difficult or impossible. We will keep you informed about this.

- 🚭 We do not allow drugs, excessive drinking in Cheia and we do not host parties.

The space is kept as basic and traditional as possible. We have no electricity except from photovoltaic panels, please know that charging devices is not available in the guest house. We have a summer kitchen with gas cooking that can be used. There is a new outdoor shower and a dry toilet with sink. You are also welcome to wash up in one of the rivers, which will be a very refreshing experience.

The house itself is heated by a wood stove made of clay. It has 2 rooms with each one bed and one stove. The beds are small but we welcome people to sleep closely together like in the old times :)

We love to make bonfires. The space is also open for tourists with tents.
