Retreating to Snowdonia? Then you should probably take a peek at this place: an exclusive family-run smallholding on the western fringes of Snowdonia National Park, tucked snugly into the hillside above the handsome hamlet of Rhydyronen, Snowdonia Hideaway has got absolutely smashing views of Snowdonia’s marvellous Dysynni Valley and Cardigan Bay. Perhaps the best bit about this place is that you can arrive right on site in style via a vintage steam train from the Talyllyn Railway, which starts in Tywyn, three miles away; request to stop at the halt, and the friendly guard will guide you to your carriage – all that's left to do then is sit back and gaze out admiringly at all the spectacular scenery that's around while the train puffs its way to the bottom of the field at your lovely little Snowdonia retreat.

This secluded spot is great for long walks and bike rides around the surrounding area and there’s a good choice of peaks to climb too. If you like the sound of a massage after your long walks and outdoorsy activities, you can book in for one with your host who is a qualified therapist in the seaside town of Aberdyfi.

The nearby town of Tywyn has plenty of handy local amenities, including a supermarket, cinema, great restaurants and beaches. There is a good local pub a 20 minute walk into the village that serves tasty pub meals, and you're almost equidistant to the larger towns of Dolgellau and Machynlleth and its lovely weekly market. The photogenic coastal village of Aberdovey with its fine sandy beaches, spectacular 18-hole golf course (with splendid sea views) and sheltered harbour is a 15-minute drive away. Castell Y Bere and Harlech Castles are within easy reach, for those of you who want to explore the history of the area. There are outdoor adventure centres nearby and crafts to try.

We like to think we’re a humble Welsh version of ‘Escape to the Chateau’ and we aim to give our guests a warm Welsh welcome. I love hosting and looking after others and cooking big hearty meals. I teach yoga, love mountain biking, crafts and pottery, and enjoy walking in the big outdoors and surfing.
