The flat was in a great location, very close to the Sydney Convention Centre. It was easy to get about, and all I needed was a room to stay in at night, nothing else. I had a queen bed, shower and bath, which is great. All I needed was a room, and that is what I got. Good value!

Except for the location, everything else is unpleasant with this accommodation! We were surprised that the host did not even bother to tidy up the unit and all throughout our brief stay, Pauline and her fiance made us feel unwelcome. We could not even sit on the sofa nor use the dining area as polo shirts were kept hanging on the chairs. We were told to keep the toilet faucet from dripping but there was a problem with the faucet to begin with and so we were afraid to use it as locking it tightly may only destroy it. We practically just stayed there to sleep, and every night we noticed cigarette butts and lighter at the veranda across our room, so we asked Pauline why they have to use the veranda facing our rented room and not the porch near the living room. She just flatly told us that the porch was reserved for their laundry. We could smell the cigarettes from our private room. Before sleeping late in the night, we would leave the lights open and turn it off early in the morning, but apparently they resented it and on our third day, we were shocked to go inside our room (which did not have any lock) and found a tape on the switch so we cannot turn on the lights. They did not even have the courtesy to tell us that they were going to put a tape on the switch which really made us feel very uncomfortable as they invaded our privacy by opening our very cramped rented bedroom and putting a tape on the switch. Because of all these unpleasant conditions, we decided to cut short our stay in Pauline's place.

Response from Pauline:
Too much to say about this guest. From the very beginning we had a very bad impression on them. They invited friends during the check-in (without let us know before, so that we thought they planned 2 extra guests) and then regularly during their stay at our place. This is expressly notified in the house rules that we don't allow extra guests. In the first night they arrived, they asked us if we were living in the unit and if they had to share it with us. They probably thought they rented a private unit but again it is expressly notified in the add that this is a private room in a shared apartment. Moreover, we are both professional workers and they didn't have any respect for us talking very loudly, turning lights, making calls on (SENSITIVE CONTENTS HIDDEN) and slamming doors from their very first night ! In fact, they had exactly the same behavior for all their stay: making constant noise until very late so that we had to wear ear plugs to be able to sleep, not switching the lights and being very not respectful with us who as the tenants and living in the unit. They really should have read the add as they have been surprised that they had to share the unit (in the Saturday they have been surprised to see us in the living room and asked us very impolitely why we were here !). Also, they haven't read the rules of the house which are common sense of turning the lights off and the water when we don't use them. We sent them few friendly reminder messages and they didn't pay attention to it. We were really relieved when they told us they would leave earlier. An advice to you Julia: read properly the add and don't complain after because you haven't read it. We have had few other guests with who everything went really well. We are really welcoming and social people (we even watched a movie in the leaving room together with guests) as long as guests are respectful and polite.

It was a geat experience to share Pauline's accommodation while I was in Sydney. The location is absolutely fantastic, very close to Darling Harbour and International Convention Centre and it saved a lot of time for me while there. Thankful to Pauline for her warm welcome and hospitality. I almost felt like I was in my own home.
