The house is an eclectic mix of antique and worldly design, set within original woodwork. It is located in the historic Lamasco neighborhood, just a block from Franklin Street. Guests can easily walk to parks, libraries, restaurants, shops and bars. It is also just a block from the annual West Side Nut Club Fall Festival.
Guests will need to be able to navigate stairs. This house was built in 1889, so be prepared for idiosyncrasies. Floors and stairs creak; and the original claw foot tub and old marble tiles have imperfections. It is part of the charm. We share our home with two sweet dogs, so guests should be understanding of the occasional dog hair or bark. The room is large with a queen sized bed, closet, dresser and chairs. It has an attached bathroom with claw foot tub that guests can use. If they prefer a shower, there is a full bath downstairs with a shower that is set aside for guests.
Guests are welcome to use the kitchen's refrigerator, microwave and coffee maker. Guests are also free to read in the library, tinker on the old piano in the music room, relax on the front porch, or stretch in the yoga room.
Interaction with guests
Depending upon the times and days, and guests' needs, the host can be available. She will meet you at check-in to provide a key and show you to your room. You can discuss your needs from there as to how accessible you wish her to be.
Other things to note
There are two dogs living in the home, although they do not have access to guest bedrooms. Guests will park on the street in front of or beside the house. There is not a television in the bedroom, but there is Wifi. The attached bath has a claw foot tub only. Guests have access to a bathroom with a shower, though.
