Andre was the perfect host, being both on hand when needed and plenty of space too. The house is very charming and typically French in a small village in rural France. The pool area, and the gardens in general were lovely, and this was a great base at which to work photographing a wedding in a nearby chateau.

This is a unique place to stay away from the glamour of high profile Bordeaux vineyards. Our hosts were honourable, full of life, character and a sense of adventure! The house is historic as is the village. A breakfast with delightful homemade jams and bread from the master baker in the village.

I couldn't agree with Graeme more (previous comment). Beautiful property in lovely village a short drive from St Emillion, but Marie-Jose and Andre add soul to it. What an amazing couple! Through them we met some great people from the village, whom we will always remember. I couldn't recommend it enough.

Quite simply the most wonderful place we have ever stayed ... beautiful house, gardens, pool and village. And the loveliest, warm, accommodating hosts. Marie-Jose and Andre ('granny and grandad') made us feel welcome from the moment we arrived, they are clearly natural and very happy hosts who enjoy their guests' company. And they are such good company themselves, with many stories from their travels around the world, their family and their many guests. Marie-Jose joined us for coffee in the garden upon our arrival, and kept us entertained for most of the afternoon. And then in the evening they asked us to join them for drinks on the terrace. They truly made us feel at home. They also have a wealth of knowledge about the local area and will go out of their way to assist you with outings, bookings, directions etc etc. And the area itself is fabulous - they are surrounded by vineyards and chateaux, and St. Emilion, Libourne, Bordeaux etc etc are not a very long (and very beautiful) drive away. We stayed for 2 nights and could happily have stayed for much, much longer. Our room (we had Brazza, the private suite at the side of the house) was fantastic - filled with artefacts from the Congo and around Africa. And the most comfortable bed! Was heavenly! And breakfast is typically French and delicious. Cannot recommend enough ... and will definitely be returning.

This house is located in the most beautiful setting and the hosts, Andre and Marie-Jose, are absolutely fantastic. We arrived (much to their despair!) without a car and they couldn't have been more accommodating. The house is in a village with one shop, no taxis or buses and so if you want to see further around the region, make sure to bring a car. However if like us, you are wanting to cut yourself off and enjoy the idyllic French countryside, this is pretty ideal. Either way, I would highly recommend a stay here.

Words would be nowhere near sufficient to describe the experience of staying with 'La Famille Stanghellini'! From the charm of the house, the beauty of the gardens and surrounding villages and the friendliness, life stories and incredible hospitality of André & Marie José. And just when you thought it couldn't get any better, they will take you out in that amazing old car, organise trips for you and generally be the best hosts you could imagine. This was definitely our best airbnb experience to date!

This is a wonderful place with great people. Mami and Papi were warm and welcoming, and we strongly recommend staying with them.
