Great location

A well presented, detached holiday cottage that has a double bed & double sofa bed. The cottage sits in the lovely grounds of the owners property & is within minutes of the beautiful forest. There is a separate toilet & shower block, with a drying area & bike storage facility. The property has an excellent location for local walking ,riding ,Golf & attractions such as Puzzlewood & the Wye Valley. The property has local pubs & shops within an easy walk. Come & meet our animals & enjoy our home.

The space
The space sits ~ 200 feet up a path, through pretty gardens of the owner's cottage. Owld Butty has an open plan arrangement, with kitchen & TV area within. The access to toilet & shower/drying room is a 20 meter outside walk. The drying area has space for bikes & a locking point (PERSONAL BELONGINGS EVEN IF LOCKED ARE AT OWNERS RISK). Our gardens allow for interaction with our own animals & are a real hit with children. Feeding experiences can be arranged with the owner. The property provides excellent access to the local area & has numerous local walks & mountain bike trails accessible directly without the need for a car.

Guest access
The property is detached, with adjoining detached toilet/shower/dry store area (small outside walk). There is also an enclosed area of garden & chipping area for you to relax. The owner does use the area as access to sheep paddocks, but is private in its nature.

Other things to note
Access path is not suitable for wheel chairs.

Shower towels, hand towel, tea towel, bedding and a hair dryer are all provided as standard.

We strive to keep our property as environmentally friendly as possible, with ethical cleaning products, recycled toilet paper & LED lighting. We would request that guests share towels where possible to reduce the amount of laundry required.

NEWSFLASH !!!! - March 2019 WE ARE A 10 MINUTE WALK FROM PUZZLEWOOD - LOCATION OF ONE OF THE SIX GAME OF THRONES 'THRONES' - THERE ARE ONLY 6 IN THE WHOLE WORLD !!!!!!!

Perfectly positioned for access to the woods for walking & biking, with the nearby Puzzlewood (Star Wars film location) & the famous Clearwell Caves all within a very close radius. We are also very close to Clearwell Castle, which is a very popular wedding venue, with many wedding guests staying with us. The Wye valley is very close to hand, boasting excellent kayaking, rafting and bird watching (Peregrine Falcons). We are also close to the RSPB Nagshead reserve, which has a number of hides and beautiful walks.

The Forest of Dean is a geographical, historical and cultural region in the western part of the county of Gloucestershire, England. It forms a roughly triangular plateau bounded by the River Wye to the west and north-west, Herefordshire to the north, the River Severn to the south, and the City of Gloucester to the east.

The area is characterised by more than 110 square kilometres (42.5 sq mi) of mixed woodland, one of the surviving ancient woodlands in England. A large area was reserved for royal hunting before 1066, and remained as the second largest crown forest in England,

The nearby town of Coleford is a small market town that boasts excellent year round events, such as the Free Music Festival in July & Carnival of Transport in May. The local area is highly popular with walkers & mountain bikers & nature lovers alike, with opportunities to view our now native wild Boar within very close proximity of the property (subject to season).

We are here to help, if you need guidance on walks, cycle routes, places to visit or eat, or if you want to know about the local heritage. Feeding experiences can be arranged for the animals & for a small donation to the Barn Owl trust, you can interact with our house Barn Owl 'Filbert'. Filbert now has a new partner 'Athena' who is currently settling in & are looking forward to potential breeding success. At certain times of the year eggs & local produce may be on sale.
