A converted railway goods wagon (c.1900), rustic and simple, with stunning view over our organic farm and uninhabited valleys beyond. Basic kitchen - Loos and showers in the farmyard or own compost loo alongside.

This farm is host to a community of volunteers from all over the world and you will be welcome to get involved in our way of life - close to land and seasons, or enjoy seclusion in a place that radiates peace and vitality with unpolluted night skies.

The space
The farm is gloriously peaceful - no traffic sounds out here. If you ascend the hill behind us you can see across to Snowdonia and the Shropshire hills. Good for those who want space and freedom and the simple things of life - like a fire to cook on and stars overhead.

We are involved in cathedral archaeology, sheep farming, stone sculpting, creating a working stone age farm, traditional crafts, natural building, tanning, woodland management, cheesemaking ...........and much more!

Guest access
Guests have the run of farm and gardens. They are welcome in our home for a cup of tea and sharing a little of community life lived close to the land (Not possible while covid restrictions last).

Other things to note
There is no electricity in the wagon. There are solar lights and we supply tea lights. Bring a torch. The farm is a work place and the site is neither luxurious or glamorous. It can be muddy - bring wellies! But we live off the land and are happy to spend time with visitors who are interested in the way of life - when life's not too busy! Changes we are making because of coronavirus - We are introducing a minimum stay of two nights because of the extra cleaning demands. There will be no access to the bus for cooking which means there will be smaller cooking facilities in the wagon only and no electricity for fridges etc. You may want to bring an extra pan or two or ask for a coolbox. Guests will have shared use of the showers and one flush loo in the farmyard. There will be no access to the farmhouse during the crisis and we do not have a community of volunteers living with us this summer until restrictions ease. You can see more details of the farm on channel 5, City Life to Country Life, episode 4. If you want to arrive earlier or leave later than specified please ask. If there are no other visitors before or after you we can often accommodate you.
