Great location

Private accommodation in the heart of the city, the 200 year old Coach House located in the garden of an historic house, is sensitively converted to be comfortable, spacious & self-contained for short or longer stays. It is completely independent with a keysafe & is cleaned & maintained to a high standard. Prepared thoroughly & carefully adhering to current guidelines & using appropriate methods to minimise risks. Great to work from, to quarantine at, or for a retreat.

The space
Stay in the heart of the city! We are literally a few metres from the ancient city walls!

Furnished and equipped to a standard we as travellers expect, we want our guests to be able to relax and enjoy their stay in our beautiful city.

The Coach House has independent access, a well-equipped kitchen and a comfortable living room with two sofas and a dining table overlooking the garden.

The upstairs bedroom has a luxurious super-king bed or twin beds. A single bed can be set up in the living room if you need it. All our linen is hotel quality and is carefully laundered and ironed. Towels are provided. The upstairs bathroom, recently refurbished has a shower.

We wash and iron our linen at high temperatures. We use pillow and mattress protectors and take great care to keep our soft furnishings in a clean and good condition. We use a steam cleaner throughout the property to ensure hard and soft surfaces are cleaned to a high standard. Steam cleaners kill 99% if viruses and bacteria, this coupled with careful use of cleaning products give the guest high levels of confidence when staying in our property.

As this is an old building (200 years!) the ceiling upstairs is sloping and therefore not full height towards the eaves, if you are tall you may find this challenging!

We are in the process of changing the art we hang. We are choosing art associated with us or with our local region. We have recently hung a watercolour of the University of East Anglia painted during its construction in 1972! Many of our guests have connections past and present with the university, it’s a great place to visit if you haven’t been there including The Sainsbury Centre for visual arts and the ever increasing acquisitions for the emerging sculpture park.

There is TV and WiFi. We have upgraded our wifi to improve connectivity. Maps, reading material and directions to things to do are available.

The kitchen comes with tea, coffee and basics and if you require more food supplies or breakfast we are happy to help. It is equipped so you can cook! If you need anything from a high chair to a particular piece of kitchen equipment please ask!

Norwich is a fascinating medieval historic city packed with things to do. They say there is a church for every week of the year and a public house for every day of the year! We have more medieval churches than any other city in Northern Europe! Nowadays prepare to be surprised we have churches which are home to an Arts centre, a circus school and a treasure trove for those interested in antiques and vintage finds!

The Theatre Royal, the library and shops are a 3 minute walk away. We are a short walk from Carrow Road and close to Marsh and Aviva!

There is a market packed with wonderful stalls including some fantastic street food! We have lovely restaurants who are doing the most fantastic take out service right now including Benedicts. It is a truly fabulous restaurant who are doing a menu at weekends for you to warm up and serve at home! You can even order your wine and non alcoholic drinks to accompany your meal!

If you want to explore our beautiful county the coast is easy to reach even on the train! The Norfolk Broads National Park is also a short drive away, rent a boat, enjoy the local hospitality in a garden at a riverside public house or spot some of our amazing bird life!

Rent an electric Beryl bike or bring your own, we are a three minute ride from the Marriott way which will take you straight out of the city through the glorious countryside. Sustrans cycle route is reached this way too!

Come and learn to bake bread or attend a cooking course or maybe explore creative writing? The Norfolk and Norwich Festival is on each May and offers something for everyone, it’s right here on our doorstep and much of it is free! There is even Norfolk School of Gardening nearby offering courses for beginners through to the more experienced gardener. There are guided walks and plenty of free talks, it really is a city for everyone!
