I feel horrible about the collective issues that happened during this vacation. But below is a direct copy and paste from a message to her. I have many others when I was keeping her posted. I have a young family and as soon as I knew what was going on I drove to Oak Island and worked all weekend to try to make it as pleasant for them as possible. Complete with several beach toys left for the grandkids. She also did not mention that I refunded nearly the entire rent. She also didn't mention that I called all of the area rental companies to try to find them alternative options. In hindsight I should have cancelled the reservation but felt horrible about doing that too. The area has had unprecedented rain, and most of their trip. And we were in contact multiple times via phone during the issue - I answered a call at 6:30am. the review references only one of many communications which is not reflective of the situation. I feel horrible but the part about the amount of time, effort and refund was left out of the renters review. EMAIL COPY & PASTE Tina - Hi there. I wanted to bring something to your attention. Oak Island has had several dates of heavy consistent downpours and our downstairs, along with many others experienced flooding. When I sent my property managers to clean it up (renters are there) they went to tighten some loose baseboards and discovered a decent amount of mold from on going moisture. We are going to do an extra deep cleaning but it will likely still be there. We have ServePro lined up for a full mold mitigation and to finish a plumbing issue as well, but it won't be until the week after your visit. The decision is your but I just wanted to be 100% honest upfront. I'm heartsick about this as our house is getting in the way of other families vacation. I am going up there Saturday to oversee the plans to correct everything the week after next. Let me know what you decide, we will obviously give you a full refund if you decide to look elsewhere or a partial refund if you decide to stay. SOOOOO very sorry!
