This is a fantastic period apartment in heart of Paris. The photographs on the site are very accurate. The apartment is behind a locked doorway from the street, where you enter a small gallery courtyard and climb 2 easy flights of stairs. The apartment door double locks and so you feel very secure. We arrived late at night and the area was still wide awake with cafe people and friendly chatter. This is a very safe area.
I have never stayed in such an easy to use and understand smart apartment before. Francois is bilingual in French and English and he and his family are all available nearby to support you during your stay should you need anything at all. There is an excellent handbook with all instructions and helpful phone numbers.
I really want to move in here and live here for a while-this apartment has everything you need! Francois has thought of everything- hairdryer, iron, washing machine, a brand new large shower, huge basin and vanity unit. The kitchen is also newly refurbished and has a new electric hob, new pans, plates, glasses, utensils, cutlery etc. There is free pasta, rice, herbs and Nespresso and a full-size dining table and 6 chairs to eat at. Cooking here occasionally would be brilliant to cut down on the cost of eating out if you are staying for a few days but there are numerous bakeries, cafes and restaurants within a minute's walk too-the choice is yours!
The towels and bedding are spotless and new- and the bed is so comfortable. We also used the double sofa bed which has a memory foam mattress and my son said was very comfortable. The exposed beams, original fireplaces and stained glass windows combined with modern touches with lighting and furnishings make this a gorgeous and relaxing place to live for a few days. The living space is huge and the windows open onto a Parisian side street which does not allow cars along. The windows keep out any noise and the blackout blinds make it very dark too which all aids a good night's sleep.
St Germain is not too touristy with loads of galleries, antique shops, lifestyle shops and cafes. The Seine, Louvre and Notre Dame are all within a 10 min walk. The nearest metro is Odeon, only a 3 minute walk, though we mostly walked everywhere owing to the excellent location and late night restaurants which allowed us to sight-see late into the evening, knowing we could eat in St Germain and go home quickly- a home from home!
Merci beaucoup Francois- we will return!
