A hidden gem!
Maria and Alexander are a delightful couple, and it was a joy to stay with them for 4 days. They went to every effort to make sure I was comfortable, and they couldn't have been more helpful. They even invited me for delicious home made traditional Norwegian waffles on my last night!
The location is PERFECT! A 10-minute walk to the centre but in a quiet area so you don't get disturbed by typical city centre noise, particularly at the weekend when I stayed. The view out of the bedroom and the living room overlooks quaint traditional Norwegian wooden houses, with the mountains in the background.
The bedroom is "compact and bijou", but perfectly habitable and comfortable. At the moment they have bunk beds which rather dominate the room, but they are considering putting in a small double bed and that would open up the room considerably and also allow easier access to the wardrobes.
One advantage is that the bedroom is immediately to the left when you come into the apartment with the bathroom right next to it. The living room is upstairs and Maria and Alexander's bedroom is upstairs but at the back, so it really does feel like a self contained area, although the bathroom is shared. Oh, and the shower is great!!
At the price is a steal as well! The cheapest you can hope to get a room in Bergen for during the season is three times what they are charging, and that would be for a very basic chain hotel. And again that is likely to be a lot noisier that here, where I did not get woken once in 4 days.
So I can highly recommend this for a stay in Bergen. 5 stars all the way!
