We had a great time at Finca El Nogal. Everything was exactly as advertised and even better. The house is beautiful, very comfortable and very clean. Great location, close to major towns and attractions. John and Nancy, who take care of the property are very attentive and willing to help. Maria was very responsive to our needs. Very much recommend this property to anyone willing to explore this amazing part of Colombia. We look forward to coming back.

The Nogal trully is all that it was advertised to be and more. It is much more than the pictures purport it to be. We were extremely pleased with the space, the cleanliness, the manicured lawns and gardens, the pool and of course the attentive service and great cooking of Nancy and John. The only issue, which really is unrelated to the Finca itself is that the town, which is about half a mile away, becomes very noisy on Saturdays with music and parties and you might have difficulty sleeping. Closing the windows and turning on the fans in the rooms does most of the trick in muffling the noise, but if you're very sensitive this might be an issue. besides that this is certainly the paradise that Maria advertises and dealing with her was always pleasant and her responses are timely and productive.

Just moments from downtown Montenegro behind an inconspicuous locked gate and down a narrow grass path that seems impassable by car is El Nogal. This "finca" absolutely exceeded our expectations, the photos and listing simply do not do the property justice. I really don't know where to start; the property itself is beautifully landscaped with exotic flowers and plants I've only seen in Hawaii and Thailand. We ate oranges from a tree on the property. The house itself clearly has been recently renovated and upgraded; all 4 bedrooms have modern en suite bathrooms, the decorative appointments are extremely tasteful and reminiscent of the local culture. The bedrooms are on the second floor which also has two separate sitting areas, one with the view of the valley, the other with an eclectically stocked bookshelf. Local crafts are everywhere throughout the house. One of the most impressive features is the outdoor living space. Though there is an inside formal dining room table that easily seats 8/10 people, there is also an enormous outdoor living space complete with sitting areas and a long hand carved banquet sized table that easily seats 10. There are 2 comfortable hammocks and many seating options around a coffee table carved from a huge tree trunk. There's also a beautiful pool table in the outside space which provided hours of entertainment for the 20 year olds and their dads. The pool is extremely well maintained and has several seating options around it including an outdoor shower. Also the views are worth mentioning; whether from the outdoor space or one of the second floor seating areas or master bedroom one can see the surrounding town of Montenegro and Armenia in the distance. One day we walked into downtown Montenegro (about 10 minutes), the other day we visited a local coffee plantation and had an actual coffee tasting, tour, lecture and actually got to pick coffee beans. I'd be remiss if I didn't mention the wonderful staff that lives onsite. This husband, wife and son team were mind readers, anticipating our every wish in terms of drinks and food. We were given the option to have them shop and cook for us, for a very reasonable fee, and they did not disappoint. The food was authentic (we had a couple Colombian expats in our group to attest to the food's authenticity) and it was delicious and plentiful. They made our stay extremely special and we were grateful for everything they did for us. This is a beautiful place to relax and use a home base if you either want to explore the Zona Cafetera or just drop-out of reality for a while. I can not think of one improvement I would recommend. Our stay was absolutamente fantastico! Thank you, Maria!
