About this listing
A large warm and quiet room 3 min. from the Kandalaksha train station.
The building was constructed in 1939, and the apartment itself and your room is a bit of a time capsule from 1970s. But bedding is clean, water is running, and the toilet works.
No mice. No roaches. One very quiet and not too smelly dog.
Good WiFi. Access to computer can be arranged.
Guests are welcomed to use the kitchen and washing machine.
Several good stores and inexpensive cafes nearby.
Hosts are well connected locally and will be able to answer many of your questions related to Kandalaksha, the Kandalaksha Nature Reserve, and places along the south edge of the Kola peninsula.
Film makers, do-gooders, or journalists or others who come here for a reason are especially welcomed.
$25/person, no extra fees.
Disclaimers and warnings:
The apartment is rundown, So is the building and the entire city, as well as this whole part of the world. Water reeks of sulfur. The window view is gloomy. Hosts, while helpful, are asocial types and won't engage in friendly chat.
No smoking indoors in the only rule I can think of. Ours is a very easy household. Think of us as ageing hippies.
