The space

Come stay with us in my lovely Victorian style home in Historic Takoma Park in D.C. I am renting out the entire basement of the house. The basement has it's own private entrance that opens into the garden. It is a full apartment with a spacious living room, kitchen, bathroom and bedroom with plenty of closet space. There is a large plasma tv in the living room with cable and if you are bringing a computer I have wireless internet available.

There is a washer and dryer in an adjoining room of the basement that you are free to use (although I do ask ask that if you plan on doing more than a load or two to buy your own laundry detergent).

The house is in a safe, quiet and friendly neighborhood with shops, resturants, a library, and tennis courts all in easy walking distance. I am located a mere four minute walk from the Metro Red Line Takoma station making travel to the surrounding D.C./ Maryland/ Virginia area a breeze.

I allow pets on a case by case basis - just let me know and we can work something out.

Please absolutely no smoking in the house.

I will respect your privacy while you are staying with me and will not go into the basement apartment. If you make new friends while here that's great - but I would ask that you do not bring other people to the house.

If you have questions please don't hesitate to ask me.

Brilliant. Once we got used to basement living it was wonderful and so was Reed. Just like everybody else says. It's a safe, cool beautiful characterful area. We especially loved whiling away the morning, having breakfast in the garden. Made us late every day! We also loved the art works on the walls. Reed is an excellent host and a lovely woman. And we enjoyed the time we spent with her very much. The subway is close by and "Superwoman" opposite the subway is a great place for, guess what Soup! .There are also a a bar and a bistro next door to the subway stop. Door to door downtown takes about half an hour and the subway is not crowded. We always got a seat. Shopping for food at Safeways is near by and so is Wholefoods. Not to Mention Imax Cinema, restaurants and shops. Off street parking. We loved DC and Takoma. Our Sat Nav took us right through DC so watch out for misdirection. Enjoy.

Reed (our host) was extremely welcoming and friendly. She was able to meet all our requests and provided a wealth of information regarding local amenities. The property is very convenient to Takoma Park Metro station and was easy to find. The apartment has it's own main door so you can come and go as you please. As it's a basement the steps down to the door are a bit tricky - especially at night. Reed was happy to let us use the garden when we wanted to. All in all we thoroughly enjoyed a very relaxed stay.

Reed's place was fantastic! The separate entrance was nice as we felt free to come and go as we wanted and Reed was flexible and accommodating with our arrival time. Overall, the space is just as great as advertised. As a bonus, the bedroom is really dark and quiet; perfect sleeping conditions!

Great location to the metro. Bedroom is dark, great for sleeping in. It is a quiet place. We parked in her driveway and left it there until we left. Great bargain. Reed is a sweet, sweet lady and helpful. It is a basement apartment so the stairs may be challenging for some people.

I really enjoyed my stay at Reed's. My only regret is only staying one night!!!! The location was great: nice neighborhood, walking distance to a Metro Station, food and coffeehouses . I had issues while driving to D.C., so I arrived late in the evening, but Reed was very responsive, helpful, and accommodating with my late check in. There is also a driveway where you can park, so that was very convenient for visiting the City. Reed was really friendly, and an interesting person. I would definitely love to stay here in my next trip to D.C. ... I totally recommend it, folks.
