Treat yourself to something special and enjoy some time at Little River Bed & Breakfast!  We offer warm hospitality, fine food, and modern amenities in a renovated 1870s farmhouse just steps from the Nubanusit River. Relax on the deck or in the sunroom, rest in your beautifully appointed private guest room (with private bath), and in the morning enjoy a delicious multi-course breakfast prepared just for you. Perfect for both leisure and business travelers.

The space

Once part of the MacDowell Artists Colony this 1870's home has been tastefully restored and renovated. Four guest rooms, each with a queen bed and private bath, welcome the weary traveler.  Rooms also feature independent heat control (and window air conditioners, in season), flat-screen televisions, hairdryers, alarm clocks, toiletries, and free WIFI (available throughout the property).  Some guest rooms feature gas stove fireplaces and/or views of the river.  Additional common spaces, indoors and out, provide ample opportunity for relaxation.

Guest access

Each morning, enjoy a hearty, gourmet breakfast served in our casual dining room.  Our multi-course breakfasts include coffee, tea, juices, fresh fruit, a delicious baked good or homemade granola, and one of our signature entrees like Blueberry Baked French Toast, Summer Vegetable Strata, or French Baked Egg.  We cook using many local products including fruits and vegetables, locally-roasted fair-trade organic coffee, and free-range eggs.  Cookies, snacks and a selection of hot drinks are available throughout the day.  Many special dietary needs can be accommodated with advance notice.

In addition to guests' private room and dining room, common spaces at the B&B (sunroom, living room, outdoor river deck and the Adirondack chairs by the river) are all available for guest enjoyment.

Interaction with guests

Your hosts Rob and Paula live on-site and are always happy to share a wealth of knowledge on local happenings, interesting hikes and great places to kayak!  Whether you are here on business or pleasure, you’ll know that you have a cozy, comfortable, relaxing space to retreat to at the end of your day.

We love to visit with our guests, but guests can interact or not interact with us as much or as little as they choose. We have four guest rooms so it is likely you might meet other guests on the property as well.

Other things to note

We are a full-time fully-licensed, inspected, and insured lodging & hospitality property.

Rob and Paula were wonderful hosts and made us feel very welcome. They were warm and friendly ... and Paula makes a mean breakfast! Absolutely delicious. Room and bed was very comfortable. Highly recommend this to anyone.

This B&B was perfect for our stay. The house is immaculate, yet not sterile looking. It makes you feel like you are in your own home. Rob and Paula as so accommodating and very helpful with surrounding activities and places to eat. The bed was comfortable, the pillows were soft, and the towels were fluffy. Great shower also. My wife and I felt very, very comfortable staying here and will make it our number one choice to return necessary. One couple I met at breakfast had taken a B&B tour through New Hampshire and up to Boston last year. They were back here because they said it was by far the best B&B they'd stayed at.

My wife Paula and I are your hosts at Little River B&B and The Cottage. We talked about being innkeepers for many years before buying and renovating our house to create the B&B. We love Peterborough and the Monadnock Region because it has a bit of most everything we love to do: hiking, kayaking, cycling, geocaching, live theater, art, unique dining experiences and many other things. We love hosting guests and helping make their visit to the area as perfect for them as possible. If you have a specific interest, let us know and we will do our best to help you find just what you need.
