About this listing
In Megalo Horio, Tilos, simple village house with one main bedroom plus single bedroom leading to bathroom and terrace; kitchen and living room downstairs, courtyard. Peaceful, historic location, walks to beaches and local tavernas.
Great value in a traditional Greek village on the quieter side of Tilos. Suits people wanting to experience 'Greece as it used to be'. No cars going by. Surrounded by mountains, lush valley below with farms where you can buy vegetables. Above is the old acropolis of the island. Below is a centuries-old chapel. Private and peaceful.
The whole house is yours when I'm away. If I'm there, I'll stay in my office/studio.
Interaction with guests
If I'm there I'd love to show you around the island; if not, I'll arrange for a friend to welcome you, you'll have a very private place and I can still give you lots of information.
There are three several beaches in walking distance on this quiet side of an unspoilt island.
Bus to port runs until lunchtime in winter, until evening in summer. Car or scooter rental available in port. Tilos has no airport, which is why it has escaped mass tourism; it's reached by ferry from Rhodes, Kos or Athens.
Other things to note
This is an ordinary village house - how most people in Tilos live - so it's quirky, not five-star!
No smoking indoors as there's a lot of wood, but on the terrace it's fine. House is in traditional village, so it's important to respect the neighbours.
I'm a writer and editor of books, very happy to call the island of Tilos home. Love walking, swimming. You can visit my 'Octopus in my Ouzo' website for more information on Tilos.
