We are taking coronavirus extremely seriously and recognise that we can provide you with a level of social distancing that may be difficult in your own home. The cottage is entirely separate from the house and you can check in without any contact. We can help with grocery deliveries. We are deep cleaning between each booking - all linen washed at 60 degrees and all hard surfaces bleached. Do contact us if you have further queries.

The space
The Gardener's Cottage is a delightful, newly renovated retreat with private garden. Set in the grounds of a Queen Anne Rectory, it has 17th Century charm with the convenience & comfort of modern fittings. On the Ridgeway, in a picturesque rural setting, you can get out without seeing anyone.

An extremely comfortable home from home with open plan kitchen-dining-sitting room on the ground floor, and upstairs a dual aspect master bedroom, single bedroom and luxury bathroom. It is accessed via its own separate garden and front door. Many of the original features have been retained. There is oak flooring throughout.

Whilst the Gardener's Cottage was built in the 17th Century it has been fully renovated and is more fully described below.

Kitchen
The kitchen has a Nespresso Coffee Machine; Induction Hob and Oven; Dishwasher; large Fridge Freezer; Microwave; Toaster and granite work surfaces. It contains a full range of kitchen items - whether you only wish to warm something up or cook a full Sunday roast.

Dining
The scrubbed pine table can easily accommodate four people.

Sitting
There is a three seater sofa (which converts into an extra bed) and an arm chair. If there are more than four of you we can provide extra seating or kids beanbags. There is WiFi and a SmartTV with Netflix etc.

Bathroom
A major feature of the cottage is the glorious double ended bath - one of the deepest and comfiest we've come across and perfect for relaxing by candlelight. There is a separate shower. To ensure maximum comfort there are warm fluffy towels and underfloor heating.

Master Bedroom
A King sized bed with lots of pillows, a deep mattress topper and fabulous bed linen. The bedroom is vaulted and has windows to the East and West giving you morning and evening sunshine & views over the garden and countryside. There are drawers and hanging.

Single Bedroom
This is set up as a kid's room with a small single bed, books, toys and desk. There is room for a travel cot (which we can provide if required), but it is not a big room. The curtains are black-out and there is a stair gate for the top of the stairs. We have a high chair too if required.

Outside
The Gardener's Cottage has its own private garden with well stocked cottage garden beds, a lawn, terrace and outdoor seating. In the main garden there is a climbing frame, swings, slides, trampoline and acres of space.

For those with an electric vehicle, we have a 3 pin-socket in the adjacent Barn that can be accessed for charging on an honesty basis.

For those with bigger kids we have recently built a large tree house in the woods - with four zip-wires - graded green, blue, red & black (for those that dare!) - a climbing tree & a fire pit. Hours of fun!!

Where you’ll be

Buckinghamshire, England, United Kingdom

We are located two miles from the market town of Princes Risborough, in a rural setting.

The Chiltern's contain fabulous walking and both The Ridgeway and The Chiltern Way pass through our property, so you are ideally situated to enjoy the vast network of Public Footpaths.

The Phoenix Trail, a traffic free cycle route, can be accessed less than two miles away and provides a family friendly cycle ride to Thame.

For those who appreciate fine dining, we are extremely close to both The Charles Napier and The Mash Inn. Slightly further afield are Le Manoir aux Quat'Saison and The Crazy Bear. There are also many slightly lower key pubs with a more every day offering - many of which can form part of a circular walk direct from the cottage.

Hughenden Manor, the West Wycombe Estate and Waddesdon Manor are all close by - as are the towns of Henley, Marlow, Thame and Berkhamsted - or for those who would like a retail extravaganza - Bicester Village is only two stops on the train.

We have four children and are therefore well acquainted with things to do and see in the area.

During your stay

We live in the main house. We will either be available on site or via phone. The Gardener's Cottage is separate from our house - so apart from when you arrive, or when you need us, you won't see us.

There is a comprehensive guide to the local area - but sometimes it is easier to ask a specific question. If this is the case, we would always be happy to share our knowledge with you. We have lived in the area for over 15 years - with our four kids - so have lots of ideas for days out.

We love to cook, but appreciate that not everyone else has the same passion. If you would like breakfast, a picnic hamper - or other provisions - please let us know in advance and we can provide a variety of different options, using locally sourced ingredients, wherever possible, including some from the garden.
