We were met by Ankes' daughter who was really helpful and welcoming, she quickly showed us around the apartment telling us all we needed to know. Really good hosts as they were not obtrusive and let us get on with our holiday, the apartment was spotless and was in the most perfect location for us. Will definitely be recommending to friends and family, thanks Anke!!

We were so happy we chose Anno 1685 as the apartment was perfect for us. It is in a residential area, quiet and away from all the hotels, so you live 'like a local'. The most beautiful area of Amsterdam, in our opinion. Bakery, supermarket and cafes all within easy reach, and Anke's walking route guide books were particularly helpful. We walked everywhere! We had relaxed breakfasts with the front door open, watching the locals and the many bikes. A memorable break away.

Response from Anke:
sorry, Kathryn, the bikes were in the stand with four bikes right in front of the door and marked "anno1685". Olga is new this month..and yes, the laptop has seen better days before so many guests, but there always is free wifi! Anyway, so glad ayou enjoyed your stay!

Perfect location for exploring Amsterdam. Good reccomendation for local bar round the corner which served nice food at reasonable price.

A friend and I stayed for 2 nights. This place is absolutely perfect size for 2 ppl. What we loved the most was the location - right in the best and prettiest part of Amsterdam. Lots of nice pubs and restaurants nearby (we specifically recommend Henk on the opposite corner across Prinsengracht - lovely little cocktail bar underneath too!), and the buzzy square Leidselplein. We had a real feeling we were hanging out with locals, the Dutch, rather than trying to navigate drunk and high tourists in the Red Light District. The place is really sweet - a roomy kitchen/diner, and a fairly large L-shaped bedroom, a good sized bathroom (shower only) and a very cute roofed terrace. Communication was great and clear, everything very straight forward. Would definitely recommend and would most likely come back if I was coming back to the same area.
