OVERVIEW: Beautiful gite in a converted barn building, with all modern facilities and shared use of a private pool and garden. Peaceful and beautiful setting with easy access to the nearest village and Cahors vineyards.

The space

MORE ON WHAT WE OFFER: If you are thinking about a holiday in the beautiful Lot department of France, then you might like to consider a stay in the tranquil grounds of our home, the “Mas des Roses”, an old farmhouse (“Mas”) dating from the seventeenth century, set in three hectares of farm and woodland. (URL HIDDEN)

We have two gites: Camelia (Gite 1) and Lavendel (Gite 2). Both have been renovated to a high standard (with well equipped modern kitchens, large living rooms opening onto private terraces, two bedrooms and a modern bathroom each), but retain much of their original rustic character.

The two gites are separate from the main house, set in a large, private, orchard garden with a shared swimming pool.

The garden has plenty of space for sporty types, with bowls, badminton, table-tennis and swimming all possible, or you might just prefer to find yourself a quiet corner and relax in the sun (or shade).

The gites are adjacent to a network of rural pathways where you can walk or cycle without bumping into another soul for hours on end, and only 2 km from our local village, Mauroux (see (URL HIDDEN) for more information). Here you will find a restaurant and bar, local shop (incorporating a boulangerie), library and post office.

Guest access

GITE CAMELIA: Camelia is a comfortable and stylish gite (100 m2). Its main features include:

•An open-plan layout downstairs with a kitchen and lounge area, including a sofa and two armchairs, an indoor dining table with four chairs (set under a chandelier), and a well-equipped kitchen.

•Doors from the lounge area open onto a gravelled terrace, with outdoor seating for four, and four sun-loungers for your use.

•The terrace overlooks the orchard garden and is private, in other words, not within sight of the main Mas.

•Upstairs, you will find two bedrooms (one is spacious with a double bed; the other is small with two single beds) and a roomy, airy bathroom. The bathroom has a toilet, shower unit and two sinks.

•Available for your exclusive use in this gite: all the usual things you would expect in a kitchen to be able to cook and eat a meal; plus oven, hob, fridge, microwave, coffee machine, kettle, iron, ironing board, towels, tea-towels, Wifi internet, and a small BBQ.

•Shared with Gite 2: washing machine (in a converted pig-sty next to the gites), drying racks, swimming pool, garden, and sports equipment.

ALL THE THINGS YOU WANT TO KNOW, BUT DON'T ALWAYS GET TOLD: We don't want there to be any unexpected surprises when you come to stay with us, so in this section we try to give you an honest appraisal of what to expect, and whom this gite will best suit. Also, make sure you look at all the photos we have put on the site- as these give a great idea of what we offer. So, here goes:

•Camelia will best suit: a couple; or a couple with young children (the single beds in bedroom 2 are definitely designed for children). If you are two couples, consider renting Gite 2, Lavendel, instead; or both gites.

•Camelia shares its garden and the swimming pool with Gite 2. Therefore, if you do not want to share these facilities, our gites are probably not for you. Or of course, you can always come on holiday with friends, and rent both gites together! Many of our guests do this.

•Your mobile phone will work at Mas des Roses.

•Yes, there is wifi here.

•There are four sun loungers for each gite- so everyone gets one!

•It is very peaceful here, but there are working farms around, so very occasionally we do get the noise of working machinery.

•You can walk to the village (most of the way on country pathways). It takes 20 minutes each way.

•You will definitely need to have a car if you wish to explore the surrounding area. There is no public transport of note.

Interaction with guests

WE ARE HERE TO HELP: We live in the main house on the same plot of land as the gites, so are available to help with any enquiries you might have during your stay.

A wonderful gite with everything you really need for a short break. The description of the gite in the listing was accurate. The location was really good for us to rest and recharge and also to further explore a region with which we were already familiar. It is a good location for all of the nearby towns (within 20 min drive, which is standard for the area). The pool was such a bonus in hot weather and Adam and Julian keep it spotlessly clean with the aid of their robot(!) All in all, a lovely stay and would thoroughly recommend.

What can I say, a sanctuary of peace and quite, on of our happiest family holidays, we had'nt visited the Lot Region before and the idea was to do very little! But after reading our hosts list of top 5 things to do, we decided to try a few. We were greeted by Adam and Kwyamei ( his dog might not be spelt right !) it was very relaxed, Adam showed us to our Gite, which was clean, cool beautiful decorated with some of Adam's art .Adam showed us around he was very persobable and had extensive knowledge of the area. We found a fridge full of food, cold beers, cheese, butter and milk, fresh bread, wine and the makings for a tomato pasta dinner, biscuits, yogurt's, tea, coffee, tuna, fruit. Everything you would need after a long journey and you would'nt shop on arrival to your holiday destination, which lets face if is always a bit of a pain. The Kitchen was very well equipped, clean and in good working order, lots of crockery, cutlery and cooking utensils. Which you need when you have a dishwasher. So no washing up was required! The main bedroom had plenty of storage, bed was comfortable and bedding clean., the 2nd room was little but sufficient for our daughter, again with room to hang clothes and storage space. The bathroom was clean, spacious and the double sink works really well, shower was newly installed and plenty of hot water. Soap in bathroom and kitchen area, and plenty of clean fresh towels and beach towels also. A/C unit in the main room was appreciated, & a fan in the 2nd room, as it does get hot upstairs. Good seating area directly outside the Gite where we sat most mornings and evenings to enjoy the peace and quite. Lovely clean pool with comfy chairs and parasol's as no other shade by the pool, new non-slip decking with the smell from the Lavender bushes around the pool and the sound of the frogs at night and the birds by day, it was beautiful. The Gites are private enough if you don't want to always feel like you must talk to your neighbors, but equally would work well if you wanted to holiday as a group. Plenty of Maps and the info pack was extensive,, plenty of outside games to play so idea for little ones and big ones too, everything in good working order. Washing machine and extra fridge in an outbuilding, washing detergent included? Plenty of maps, local magazines, and the info pack was extremely useful. Adam pop to see if we're needed anything on the Sunday after our arrival and had a wealth of knowledge on the area that you couldn't help but get caught up in. I have say a fabulous hoilday with a fantastic host and those little exta's and attention to detail make all the difference. We will definitely be back Thank You

We have just taken over the running of these two beautiful gites from the previous owners, Anne-Marie Van Den Berg and Wim Lemmens. We have a lot to live up to, but are looking forward to welcoming both new and returning guests to this beautiful part of France.
