Our bright modern guest house with private access awaits you. Retreat from the city to our comfortable, clean casita. This lovely, light-filled space sits behind our family home, in our garden with fresh berries and lemons. Enjoy morning coffee at the wood farm table. We offer local coffee + tea, a small fridge, robes, wifi, and outdoor dining. Our quiet street is close to BART, 3 blocks from College Ave, full of great restaurants and shops.

Awash in natural light, this modern guestroom is set in our beautiful little backyard with a lemon tree, sunny garden, large wood farm table for eating meals, and a cozy space to rest at the end of your travels.

This luxury, modern casita has its own private entrance. It is a bright sun-filled room behind our home. It has a little bar area with mini-fridge, tea/coffee bar (with a french press), microwave, sink... no stove. It has a modern, luxurious bathroom with radiant floor heating. The mattress is very comfortable (very firm and new), a menu of pillows (down and non-down) and wifi.

We have traveled the world and stayed in many hotels, and have made this room a 5-star hotel experience: white towels, fresh bed linens, white robes, down pillows, floor heat in the bathroom, locally-roasted coffee, and perhaps a few small treats!

This space is professionally cleaned after each guest. Our house cleaner is paid a fair wage and the entire cleaning fee goes to her, plus paid sick time.

It's an excellent location: four blocks from public transit, a neighborhood full of restaurants, cafes, and shops, quick access to BART and College Avenue. It's in between two trendy Oakland neighborhoods: Rockridge and Temescal, full of some of the highest-quality foodie establishments in the world. Despite being 4 blocks from BART and the freeway, we are far enough away from the crowds and traffic because our house is on a quiet residential street.

The room has one queen bed and a private, modern bathroom. We provide a travel crib upon request.

We offer complimentary locally-roasted coffee and teas and beer/wine. We provide standard provisions like clean towels and linens, hairdryer, etc. Our own washer/dryer can be made available to you (inside our house) if you coordinate with us. We have a nice backyard where you can enjoy your morning coffee, pick some fresh lemons, or just sit and lounge in the sun.

Please note:
- the one down-side of this space is the SUNLIGHT! It is gorgeous and awash in natural light. However, if you are a light-sensitive sleeper, please consider staying elsewhere, as its bright in the morning.

- Another note, there is no freezer or ice. The fridge is a mini fridge and the kitchen is really a kitchenette with a coffee station, not meant for serious cooking.

- lastly: this is in our garden! There may be ants, a spider, or a moth. we do our very best to keep critters at bay but in a California garden the occasional bug may appear.

Guest access
Private side gate entrance to the back garden and locked french doors to the casita. No access to the main house but you can use our laundry machines if the timing works for us.

Other things to note
We ask for a 2-night minimum. We only accept 2-night reservations for weekends. For weekdays, we might be flexible on the minimum stay , so get in touch if you're in a bind!

We're a family with two little kids and a golden retriever. We love to garden, cook, hike, go to parks, restaurants, and take our kids on fun trips. We love the outdoors - hiking, skiing, biking - so can point you to the best places to get outside and see big trees, gorgeous coastline, and spectacular mountains just outside of our favorite place, the San Francisco Bay area. We've been in Oakland for 8 years after living in San Francisco for 7 years. Rockridge is a great neighborhood full of delicious restaurants and small businesses. When we're not in the city or playing in the mountains or cooking healthy food, we are traveling around the world, usually staying in Airbnbs - from Spain to Oregon and the central CA coast! We are big travelers - recent trips have been to Alaska, Brazil, Italy, Hawaii, and many local California trips. We are also cooks and foodies - so hopefully you'll get to join us for a meal or some culinary adventure in our kitchen, or we'll give you great tips on the best food spots in the Bay Area. The real superhost of the casita is our golden retriever Mia, so hopefully you'll meet her if you stay with us!
