This is a very special place - watch pelicans diving, snorkel over beautiful fan coral and then just snooze in your hammock and enjoy the view. The accommodation is simple but well thought out and the charming caretaking couple provide excellent meals if you want. Jose will even summon fresh lobster from a passing fisherman for your supper. The Caribbean as it used to be!

Cayos Cochinos felt like a hidden paradise. Amazing snorkeling just off the dock, crystal clear water and a very active ecosystem. Jose and Franci, who helped us out during our stay are both very nice. They do not speak any English but Jose really tries to explain and help us understand. We downloaded a translation app to help us when we really didn't know how to ask/say something. Franci made us food everyday and everything was very delicious. There were two sweet pups who lives on the island and they followed us everywhere, even when we walked across to the small island to explore. In addition, Daryl was very helpful. He provided us with tips and information before the trip. He answered any questions we had and his response time is unbelievable. He never hesitated to help us out when it came to planning the trip and even while we were on the island. He helped us set up taxi and boat service and always called to check in. I actually forgot my keys at the place I stayed prior to heading to the island and Daryl actually helped me retrieve it. We have no complaints. Cayos Cochinos does not fall short of scenery, wildlife and relaxation.

We really, really enjoyed Cayos and hope to be back sooner rather than later. The only difficult part was getting to/from the island but once we arrived, it was paradise! Daryl communicated with us extensively before and after our trip to ensure we were well prepared. We traveled with our 20 month old and he helped make our vacation toddler friendly - he bought a high chair and made sure the taxi had a car seat (the boats don't have small kid life jackets, so I recommend bringing your own). Tip: if there's anything you want, just ask. Daryl can probably make it happen. The kayak and paddleboard we requested were waiting for us when we arrived The island caretakers, Franci and Jose, went above and beyond to make sure we had a great stay. Any concern we had was immediately addressed. They only speak Spanish but there is a Spanish-English dictionary in the communal area to facilitate communication. The food was delicious - traditional Honduran dishes as well as fresh lobster caught by Garifuna fishermen and fish that we caught ourselves. Franci didn't mind preparing the meals to our picky toddler's dietary quirks. Jose gave us insider tips on what to do around the island - he even took us on a hermit crab expedition so we could have bait to fish from the dock. Besides snorkeling right off the dock, our favorite thing to do was spend time at "the point" during low tide. You can sunbathe in bath temperature water or walk around in water shoes to check out the tidal pools. Everything was memorable from beginning to end and we hope to experience it again!

We loved staying at Cayos Cochinos. Daryl was incredibly helpful in getting us to/from the island, and it was reassuring to know that we could contact him if we needed to. Jose and Franci were welcoming and gracious. We enjoyed delicious dinners and friendly conversation every evening. The sun and the water are amazing. The kiosk was comfortable and private. We can't wait to go back!

Daryl's place was perfect for us. Accommodations are basic but very comfortable and the setting is magical. If snorkeling and relaxing away from it all is your thing, you couldn't find a better place. Daryl was super helpful arranging transport for us and hotel rooms when weather caused delays. Couldn't have been better!

Cayos Cochinos are spectacularly beautiful, and Cayo Largo Arriba -- Daryl's island Airbnb -- is a perfect place to get away from it all and relax in a tropical paradise. The accommodations are basic, but the island setting and surrounding islands are truly amazing. There is world-class snorkeling around the entire island and around the neighboring island as well, all of which is accessible from the dock. You can also arrange snorkeling at Turtle Bay on the big island which is a two minute boat ride away. The scuba diving is also fantastic. The wall dives off Pelican Point on the big island were unforgettable. Your host can arrange to have the dive boat pick you up at the island. The fishing is great as well. We went fishing for wahoo with Captain Dennis from Roaton -- also arranged through our host -- and had a great, successful trip, landing two large wahoo along with several small tuna, barracuda and red snapper. Finally, the highest praise goes to the island's caretakers, Jose and Franci (and their daughter Julia). Franci cooked three great meals every day (including wahoo steaks on two nights) and Jose made sure that we had everything we wanted. Getting to and from the island is a bit of a chore, but if it were easy, it wouldn't be as special. We flew into San Pedro Sula (the airport is far away from the city, in the middle of a farm) because it was much cheaper than flying into Roaton. From San Pedro Sula Airport to Sambo Creek is about 3 hours. Our host arranged for a driver to meet us at the airport, and although I have driven in Belize, Panama and Colombia, I was happy to have someone local drive us. At Sambo Creek, we stayed at Villa Helens, which looked like one of the nicer places in the area. In the morning, the crew from Honduras TouristOptions picked us up on the beach and took us to the island. This was our first Airbnb vacation and our first trip to Honduras. I travelled with my wife and two daughters (ages 16 and 18). If your idea of paradise is a secluded tropical island, almost completely removed from civilization (ok, you can get a 3g cell signal form the end of the dock in the early morning and late afternoon), with very friendly hosts and lots of activities, Cayos Cochinos is the perfect place at the right price.

Staying here was such a privilege, it was like having your own private island! Such a beautiful place. This part of the trip was the most relaxing bit of our vacation so far in Central America. It's a bit of a hassle to get there as you have to arrange for a 30-40 min boat ride to the island (the host can help with this) but it's very worth it. The caretakers on site are helpful and friendly. We were allowed to use the kitchen to make our own meals (you have to bring all food and water with you since there are no shops nearby obviously haha). We will cherish our memories here forever :)

Stephanie, we're very happy that you enjoyed our place so much! Thanks so much for staying. You're welcome back anytime! For future reference water is available right at our place just ask the caretakers. Next time make sure to have Franci cook some meals for you they are really delicious! Safe travels.
