Built in 2016 on the site of an old stable, Wyvering Cottage is charming and airy, with all amenities. There is a double bedroom and ensuite shower room, a large living room with comfortable seating, TV with Freeview and Netflix, dining table and chairs and a neat and well-fitted kitchen with a fridge/freezer, washing machine, oven, induction hob etc. The cottage feels spacious and light with its vaulted ceiling and skylight windows.

The space
The rooms are all on one level, with two steps into the cottage from outside.

Guests will find simple breakfast items provided - home-made bread and marmalade/jam, butter and milk for your first couple of mornings with plenty of tea, coffee, sugar and cereals.

Guest access
There is a small paved area immediately outside the cottage with a table and chairs for sitting out on warmer days. Cottage residents are welcome to walk around our 1.5 acre property with its lawns, flower borders, traditional orchard, wildlife pond, wild flower meadow, and field which is being re-wilded with native shrubs to create thicket habitat for wildlife. But best to let us know first as our two Lakeland terriers are often in the garden and may be rather over-friendly. Please let us know if this will bother you.

Other things to note
We advise coming here by car. However, this is a great area for cyclists - very flat! If you would like to arrive with bicycles we would be happy to accept a groceries delivery for you in advance of your visit.

Oddington is a very small, very quiet and peaceful village with no pub or shop. The closest pub is one mile away in Charlton-on-Otmoor. The closest supermarket is five miles away. Islip (two miles away) has a pub/restaurant and a well-stocked community shop open for a few hours in the morning and afternoon (closed on Sundays).

Parking cars or turning around on the village green beside our house is discouraged. There is parking for one guest car in our drive but please let us know if you will be arriving with more than one vehicle. If so we will need to juggle the parking a little.

Location

Oddington, Kidlington, United Kingdom

Oddington is a very small, quiet and pretty village, situated on the northern rim of Otmoor, a natural wetland with a RSPB bird reserve.

Otmoor was one of the last places in England to be enclosed and remains an area of large open spaces, deep ditches, big skies and a powerful feeling of a lost England of a past age; we residents rejoice in its relative seclusion from main roads, despite being only a few miles from Junction 9 of the M40.

Local attractions are diverse: Otmoor offers a variety of walks, straight from the cottage. We are a 30 minute rural walk into the wonderful Otmoor RSPB Reserve; a circular walk around the reserve can be done starting and finishing from the cottage in under three hours, or less depending on the nearby MOD shooting range activity - no shooting practice on Mondays. The Oxford Way is easily accessible.

For cultural activities, we are eight miles from Oxford with its many museums and university buildings. We advise you use the Park & Ride service for visiting Oxford.

Woodstock's Blenheim Palace is ten miles away. The National Trust's Waddesdon Manor is 15 miles, Claydon is 17 miles and Stowe is 20 miles away.

Bicester Heritage is nine miles and Silverstone is 22 miles away.

For those of a retail inclination the world-famous Bicester Village shopping outlet centre is eight miles away.
