About this listing

This two bedroom cottage is on a private stretch of beach front coconut plantation on Chumporn Bay. A few small islands dot the view. On a clear day Ko Tao can be seen on the horizon. Nearby caretakers can provide cleaning and meals on request. Off the tourist track

The space

This is a fantastic, secluded getaway, off the tourist track. The cottage is small but light and airy with a front balcony.
There is one aircon in the master bedroom and there are ceiling and standing fans and plenty of breezes.
There are no internal doors. Just curtains.
The beach is just in front of your door. It changes with the seasons: sometimes the beach is littered with debris from storms- great for beach combing. Other times it's white sand or pebbly. Often we find phosphorescence when swimming in the water at night.
The plantation has old coconut and palm oil trees. Fresh coconut can be had every day. And usually plenty of papaya.
The beach is beautiful but the bay is shallow. Not the best swimming beach. Perfect to laze in the water .

Guest access

You need your own car to access the property. The drive down to the property is steep but standard cars can manage easily. Just mind the edge of the road. It can be sharp so come at it tight f r om the left.
The whole cottage is yours and all of the property is free for you to roam around .
There is another cottage on the property where our Thai caretakers live. It's within eyesight, for security purposes, but otherwise this is an isolated spot.
A beach for beach combing (lots of sea glass), long walks on the quiet roads or along the beach. Bring bikes for some great, quiet cycling on the back streets through rubber plantations.
There are friendly dogs on the property. They are good for security. We never lock up.

Interaction with guests

The owners live mostly in Bangkok. There are caretakers who maintain the coconut plantation. They have their own cottage nearby, but out of earshot. The property is 13 rai. Big enough for lots of privacy. They have dogs. They are very friendly and great company and security
The caretakers can cook Thai meals for guests, for an extra small fee.

Other things to note

Telephone reception is intermittent at the cottage. There is no tv.
There are speakers for an iPod , iPhone etc.
Bring good books and games.
There are dogs on the property. Your pets are welcome.

Very lovly beach house that really make any stress go away. Four wonderful dogs. Lucy stayed on the porch all night and she followed us to the beach for a morning swin. We loved the place and it gave us a lifelong memory. Thank you so much!

The house is great and the location makes you feel like you're completed secluded despite there being plenty nearby.

What an amazing house! Ideal place to escape from the world, a dream of sociopath :) Loved the main room with panoramic glass walls. The house at all is very cozy. From the first minute is feels like home. It's not like a typical empty rental house. There are many little things that makes the atmosphere of the house. Very tastefully decorated interior and amazing surroundings. Next time I definitely want to spend there at least a week. PS. In real life house looks 10 times better than on photos.

We spent 2 weeks at Patrick's house. It's a quite place that we were looking for to relax, read and cook. House is clean and there is much space. In the kitchen I found everything I need. It was very important for me as I like cooking and making the food photo. We bought food at Tesco (17km) and at the market that is in the small town close to Tesco. Caretakers are very friendly and helpful. They came every morning to clean the house and often gave us tasty papaya. And we love the dog as it was ours. But the sea and the beach isn't clean. It's not only at that place actually. It's almost everywhere in Chumphon. Some people don't mind about it. But we love snorkelling so it was impossible for us to do this because the water wasn't crystal. Anyway the place is good if you don't want to see any tourist.

We decided very spontaneously to go to Patrick`s place for one night. This was not a problem at all. Patrick answerded really fast; thank you again for the quick response. The cottage is very nice. In front of every door or window are mosquito screens. So you will be well protected, if you don't forget to close them. The terrace is very cool, enough space to have a meal and to relax. The distance to the sea is around 20 meters, so you can hear the waves when you go to sleep. The beach looks a little wild but still beautiful, but to go for a swim, you really should take shoes with you. It's quite rocky, so not the typical beach to go swimming. We recommend this place if you look for a quiet place to relax, if you want to be on your own and just enjoy the beach and nature. You really need a car/motorbike to get there.

We had wonderful time at Patricks house. The caretakers of the property were helpful and generous and our kids loved the resident dogs. The caretakers cleaned up when we were out and helped out with laundry. We had fresh coconut from the moment we arrived and papaya too! Nearby Sawee had a great market and you won't see any tourists. We also visited a great beach just north of Champorn. The house was amazing! Open and airy plus we watched the sunrise from our bed. The water was at our doorstep. Highly recommended.
