What an amazing place - this little cabin sits just on the hillside amongst the trees overlooking Lake Tyers. It is in the middle of nowhere with not another house in sight except for Bernie's houses which are further up the hill behind the cabin. Inside it is rustic and cosy (and as per the pictures) and has everything you need! There were a couple of lizards scurrying around the place, but this can only be expected given the location! The double bed is in the main room (studio layout) but there is also a small room off the side with two single beds - so would be ideal for a family. The kitchen was well equipped. Bernie was very accommodating and his parent's were also very helpful too. There are kayaks that you can borrow and we very much enjoyed paddling around the large lake - even better that we were the only ones there! Very idyllic. We would highly recommend staying here.

Thoroughly enjoyable place to stay. Basic cosy cabin overlooking the lake and surrounded by interesting wildlife. Thanks to Bernie for being so kind, helpful and informative and we also enjoyed the night time wildlife hunt! Lots of wombats to see. Great place to stay!

Lyrebird Lakehouse was perfectly situated to break up our journey from Melbourne to Sydney, fairly easy to find in the dark too. Beautiful scenery to wake up to, and very active with wildlife! The house itself was extremely comfortable and well presented, perfectly cosy enough for an autumn night. Bernie was a fantastic host and kindly assisted us with parking on site upon our evening arrival. I would advise to arrive in daylight if possible!

Peaceful and beautiful, Lyrebird Lakehouse is a marvellous place to stay. The cabin is thoughtfully equipped with everything needful for simple holiday cooking. The swimming pool was a wonderful way to relax. We loved our nighttime visitors, a pair of possums! Bernie was a most friendly helpful host. If we ever could go again we would - and stay for longer!

The cabin and location are both outstanding. My girlfriend and I took a trip here for our anniversary. The seclusion, peacefulness and warm homey feel was exactly what we needed to have some much needed time away.

I'm a North Queenslander originally but we've found a piece of paradise here in Gippsland and I love sharing our special place with other people. We share this place with lots of other creatures too, and I hope you will enjoy the wildlife as much as I do. I'm a keen fisherman and can give you tips on how to catch a few yourself.
