Julia was very open about the condition of the house and although it is a little older, we thought it was a great place. The set-up of the bedrooms is convenient. We cooked in the kitchen for most of our meals and enjoyed lounging in the living room. If you are expecting hotel qu…

The location was great for travel purposes as far as being close to downtown. The beds were comfortable and the bathroom was remodeled and clean. Julia is very upfront about the conditions of the place and what to expect, being very accommodating otherwise. Definitely not for hig…

This house is the cutest little gem right on the perfect street less then a mile from the Victorian district. We loved coming back to our place at night and watching a movie on the couch. The trees outside are breathtaking and it was nice to call it "ours" for 3 days!! Julia had …

The host canceled this reservation 8 days before arrival. This is an automated posting.

Response from Julia:
Scharonda didn't like the listing and wanted to cancel the reservation, but instead asked a lot of questions instead that I answered...she was unhappy about the answers, but decided to 'give it a try' in a defensive way...I felt it was best to cancel and give another guest the opportunity to stay at the house, I felt uncomfortable with her and could see she would complain about every little thing once there. Being that it was over Christmas, I felt it was best for me to avoid that trouble and avoid the stress I would have with her. It was a gut feeling decision to cancel. I feel I made the right decision.

Don't be fooled by the photos. Ask about the neighborhood, and ask for exterior photos as well. We did not feel safe at all and it was daytime. We ended up canceling the reservation and losing out completely. HORRIBLE experience.

Response from Julia:
I don't usually respond to guest's reviews but in this case it is necessary. These guest actually barely went into the house, they did not go into their rooms at all. They also said that the house was fine, but wanted to 'protect' the lady that was in their party from my African American neighbors...I thought this was an extremely rude remark, borderline racist. My neighbors are extremely nice people and are super friendly and there has never been any issues with my neighbors or the neighborhood. Also the neighborhood is urban, so there is a mix of all cultures living relatively close, black, white, Asian, young and old as in most cities. The neighborhood is louder as it is in the city, but still safe and my house has a monitored Security System also. They main concern was the fact that my neighbors are of African American descent and were outside their house at the moment this guest arrived, and he wanted to be in an all white neighborhood apparently. He called my house a 'Ghetto' house actually. He also stated that he was a military officer and was used to a more posh environment. It was just very difficult for me to keep my cool with all these snotty insults. I don't play by those rules and do not discriminate according to race and my house is indeed in an urban neighborhood and all races are represented in my sweet neighbors. Nevertheless, I offered the guest a refund if I could re-book the house. I did subsequently re-book part of the house (at the last moment it was impossible to get the same price again) and I refunded that to the guest as well as the cleaning fee. After that I was called names, and how I should give him everything back since he is a Veteran, and how I should be ashamed of myself. However, I followed the cancellation policy exactly and even refunded the guest money that I didn't have to.
