We loved our stay at Rip Van Winkle gardens! The gardens were beautiful to explore in the morning before they were open to the public, we enjoyed brunch at the cafe, saw the peacocks wandering around the grounds and had a very relaxing evening in the comfortable rooms with our three month old son (in fact we all got the best sleep we have in a while!) It was very special to be able to access the gardens and stay in the original quarters of the staff, quite an original airbnb experience ! We're already planning our next trip to the area as a result of how much we enjoyed our time there.

We loved our stay in the Cook's Cottage at Rip van Winkle. From the friendly greeting on arrival, to the adorable cottage which contained everything we needed and more, the stunning grounds, the wildlife (peacocks! Racoons!), the tour around the big house with Rachel who was great fun and very knowledgable, our stay was perfect in every way. Only wish we could have stayed longer.

This was a great place for solitude. You can walk in the gardens or sit by the lake and enjoy the quiet. I was able to photograph in early morning and evening light and wandered the paths freely when the gardens were closed to the public. Perfect.

The grounds and the accommodations are simply breathtaking! Make to sure you have your camera ready, there are lots of beautiful peacocks, trees and bodies of water. On the negative side, the wifi was almost non-existent (you have to stand next to the box to get a signal) which was disappointing. The staff were wonderful. Overall, it was a very pleasant experience.

Response from Rip Van Winkle:
Mr.& Mrs. Lala, I would like to address the wifi issue you were having. I am so very sorry if you thought we supply internet in the cottages. There is no Internet in the cottages however there is internet access which is on the front porch of the gift shop. Sorry for any disappointments. Not sure how you were even able to access the wifi from your cottage so, once again sorry about that. Rachel

We really enjoyed our stay at Cook's Cottage. Rachel sent us a very detailed confirmation upon booking which was very helpful! Cook's Cottage is at the front of the gardens and easy to find. Upon arriving we were greeted by the peacocks ~ beautiful. The cottage is comfortable. They provide a bottle of wine, plenty of snacks, and a light breakfast which was very nice. We enjoyed both the rocking chairs on the front porch and the shaded patio for breakfast. As a part of the booking, we were offered a complimentary viewing of the gardens and Jefferson home. This is a must. It is very beautiful and has an interesting history. We also had the opportunity to walk down to see the sunset on the night we arrived. We met Rachel the next morning in the Gift Shop and she was very nice and helpful in viewing the grounds. We would definitely recommend staying here if you are in the area.

We absolutely loved our experience here. The Cottage was in a great location with the gardens right in the backyard and the host was very nice and accommodating. The back patio area was out favorite, the atmosphere was so relaxing. It was everything we hoped for and more! I highly recommend Cooks Cottage.
