The space
My penthouse location is eye-catching. It’s wonderful to find yourself so central yet so peaceful.

At street level, you approach a quiet residental red-brick Victorian building with stone dressings, terracotta window surrounds and cornice. From the building’s main entrance, take the lift or stairs up to level 4.

After easy self-check-in, you enter a spacious hallway, with doors leading to three double bedrooms, including an additional bathroom, en-suite and separate laundry with drying facilities. Upstairs open-plan living areas are flooded with natural light from 180° floor-to-ceiling glass doors.

I love the panoramic views from here, beautiful mature trees, glimpses of St George’s Church, the creative atmosphere from studios below. This space enjoys a peaceful and protected aspect and a thriving street food stall on weekends. You hardly guess universities, independent cinema, cafes, restaurants and galleries are all within walking distance!

The penthouse is tucked into Leicester’s skyline - protected from traffic, sheltered among iconic architecture and conserved trees. You are within a rare urban canopy, above an even rarer urban open space. Whether planning a two-night theatre break, family visit or longer stay, you’re hosted within a community whose spirit wins you over.

Where you’ll be

Leicestershire, England, United Kingdom

Regeneration lies at the heart of St George’s Cultural Quarter. This thriving Conservation Area unites Leicester’s creative and multicultural communities. In Victorian times, Leicester’s textile and shoe industry was based here which explains St George’s character.

Today, relics of Leicester’s manufacturing past have morphed into studio and exhibition spaces, making commercial life viable for a new generation of designers and artists. Several of these elaborate buildings stand on key corner sites, providing a powerful backdrop within a grid of narrow streets. Flemish and Italianate influences repeat ornate themes: arches, gables, stone carved figures.

These days, St George’s Conservation Area’s distinctive industrial past heralds a buzz for makers, performers, artists and designers, which really distinguishes it from adjoining areas of the City.

It’s a fun and welcoming place to hang out!

Hi, I am a designer and owner of a design studio, working from Leicester and London. Designing my two apartments was a dream challenge. I wanted it to reflect my love of travelling and the joy of experiencing different cultures. My home includes original artworks and artefacts from journeys I have loved.
