The space

This cozy independant house is situated on an avocado farm in the highlands of Guatemala, Sacatepéquez. It has one downstairs room, which is the kitchenette and dining room, a seperate bathroom with toilet and hot water shower and a wooden bedroom upstairs. There is a spacious covered coredor with hanging plants, a large table and chairs. We have space to park a car and a seperate driveway as well as a seperate padestrian entrance to the main farmhouse. We are within easy travelling distance to San Lucas, Antigua and Guatemala City. The house is based in beatiful countryside and is a great place to get away from it all, take walks or go mountain biking, write a novel etc. Please note there is no phone or internet at the house, but this is something we promote as being a plus! There are several dogs and cats living on the farm and we also have rabbits and hens so its a good place for animal lovers. We grow much of our own food and we can sell some of whatever we have at the time you arrive! The kitchen is well equiped but if you fancy someone cooking for you, we can arrange this too, as well as grocery shopping and lifts into town to the supermarket. Visitors have planned to come for one month and stayed for anything from three to six and the people who have stayed have been weavers, actors, volunteers, retired couples interested in Guatemala, you name it.

House Rules

We don´t permit smoking anywhere in the house because of the wooden construction and danger of fire. We always ask that if a guest breaks some item in the house that they either replace the item or pay for it before they leave. The drainage system in the countryside of Guatemala is very basic. We ask all guests to use the trash/rubbish bins provided in the bathroom for all paper and to not flush this down the drain as it will block the drainage. We have no rubbish collection in the village so ask guests not avoid bringing tins and cans to the little house. We have two containers for waiste, one for organic material such as compos and another for paper and plastic which cannot be re-used and has to be burned. We clean all bins daily. Many thanks for looking after our house and environment!
