Meadowsweet Cottage is a traditional timber framed Grade II listed Suffolk cottage. It is one of the oldest dwellings in Metfield and has been carefully renovated to retain the original character of the building whilst providing comfort and abundant modern conveniences. It is furnished with both antique and contemporary pieces to give the cottage a stylish, yet comfortable feel.

1 friendly dog welcome,

The space
Meadowsweet's soft lime washed beams make it light and airy, whilst the wood burner and underfloor heating beneath the brick floor make it a perfect cosy retreat.
The private south facing back garden is not overlooked by neighbours. There is an antique French dining table with chairs and a large parasol to give shade if needed. Additional outdoor easy chairs are found in the adjoining brick shed.

We welcome one, well- behaved dog. The garden is fenced on all sides and is completely dog proof.
There is a charge of £20 per dog . We ask that dogs do not go upstairs and are not left unattended in the cottage.
we can provide a dog crate, bowls and dog towel.

We provide Egyptian cotton sheets and fresh towels, hand soap and shower gel for our guests. Both bedrooms have thermostatically controlled radiators.
There is very good wifi connection at the cottage and Free Netflix is available for you to watch on the TV.
The location offers a wonderful setting in the Suffolk Countryside, yet is only a 25-minute drive to Southwold and the Suffolk Coast via the market town of Halesworth, whilst the castle towns of Bungay, Eye and Framlingham are all within easy reach.
The charm of Meadowsweet is reflected in the care and attention given to the design of the cottage, which has the benefit of both a kitchen/dining room and a separate sitting room with a cosy wood-burning stove set into a large inglenook fireplace. The kitchen has modern appliances and is well equipped with a dishwasher, fridge with freezer compartment, electric oven and induction hob, microwave oven, toaster, Lavasso coffee machine. An additional small fridge and a washer/dryer are available in the utility room. There is a good range of cooking utensils and crockery for those who enjoy cooking. Upstairs the master bedroom has a king size bed and the single bedroom has a 4' bed. The bathroom includes a roll top bath and separate shower cubicle.
The cottage is centrally heated and also has a wood burning stove which makes it perfect for cosy evenings relaxing after a day's walking or exploring all that the area has to offer.
A basket of wood is provided with kindling and firelights. Additional wood can be purchased in the village stores.
The brick ground floor has underfloor heating throughout.
We can provide a travel cot for infants under a year but unfortunately, Meadowsweet Cottage is not suitable for toddlers or young children under 6 years old.

I fell in love with Suffolk as a child and moved here 27 years ago with my husband Brian, a sculptor and our family. The quiet lanes, big skies and slow pace of living continues to draw people to this beautiful area.
Ten years ago, a friend and I started Nips and Crumpets, a vintage tea party business. This satisfied our love of baking and providing hospitality. Since then I have been involved in the renovation of Meadowsweet and Queenie's Cottages to provide a welcoming and enjoyable experience for our guests. I really enjoy welcoming guests to our cottages and understand that they have come to relax so respect their privacy. I live 2 miles away and will always help if needed.
My passions include Art history, gardening, painting, all kinds of music- I am enjoying learning to play the piano - , beach combing and going for walks with teddy our terrier. We are currently embarking on a rewilding project at home and are excited by the increase of wild flowers, insects and birds; orchids, butterflies, great crested newts, turtle doves, barn owls to name a few.
