I'm sorry to hear you feel this way, and had this experience. My response is that Rashidi is normally a very good host who does his utmost best to please our guests (as you can read in other reviews). Maybe he had a bad couple of days, or you just had some misunderstandings between each other. We don't pretend to be a perfect place (which is why you found some building materials in a corner), or pretend to offer our guests paradise when they come. It's a local place, run mostly by local people who have had almost no education (Rashidi taught himself English), and in this way we try and help the neighborhood a little. The enjoyment for most guests lies in the contacts with the local people in the neighborhood and being able to see real Tanzanian life. And being close to an amazing, sometimes almost deserted beach, which is really beautiful and enjoyable if you take some safety precautions (because this is still Africa). And yes, staying here sometimes comes with misunderstandings and some weird situations (Tanzanians in many ways really do have a different way of thinking compared to Western people!), but luckily most guests are able to take this with a grain of salt, pinch in a bit of humor and see the charm of it all...!
