Queenies Cottage thoughtfully restored in 2016 is a perfect mix of the old and new, retaining a sense of its history while providing the modern conveniences of underfloor heating, fitted kitchen and wood burner. Set well back from the road, the south-facing, private garden has an additional covered dining space, great in winter.
There is unlimited fast broadband at the cottage. Netflix and Prime TV.
Dogs are welcome (max 2),

The space
Queenie’s cottage is a delightful rural retreat. It has been restored, retaining many original features: exposed beams, inglenook fireplace, oak, and brick floors. Due to its historic age, the cottage is not suitable for children under 7 or those with limited mobility due to the steep spiral staircase.
We welcome (max 2) dogs, there is a charge of £20 per dog. We can provide a dog crate for their use, please let us know in advance.
Metfield is a small pretty village with a well-stocked shop, plenty of footpaths, and quiet lanes for you to explore.
A welcome pack is left for your arrival.

Where you’ll be

Suffolk, England, United Kingdom

Metfield is a small pretty village, set on the edge of the Waveney Valley surrounded by a gently rolling landscape. There are many footpaths around the village and the quiet country lanes make cycling a joy.
The community village shop is open every day and stocks a good range of local produce. There is a farmers market held in the village hall the first Saturday of the month and the newly refurbished village hall has a friendly new bar open Friday and Saturday evenings selling local beers. Please check Metfield village hall website for other events eg quiz night, music night. This is currently closed due to covid 19.
Metfield is a quiet friendly village, a great place to escape the bustle of town and city.
The market towns of Halesworth and Framlingham are both within easy reach and worth exploring. The coast is 25 mins away by car.

I fell in love with Suffolk as a child and moved here 27 years ago with my husband Brian, a sculptor and our family. The quiet lanes, big skies and slow pace of living continues to draw people to this beautiful area.
Ten years ago, a friend and I started Nips and Crumpets, a vintage tea party business. This satisfied our love of baking and providing hospitality. Since then I have been involved in the renovation of Meadowsweet and Queenie's Cottages to provide a welcoming and enjoyable experience for our guests. I really enjoy welcoming guests to our cottages and understand that they have come to relax so respect their privacy. I live 2 miles away and will always help if needed.
My passions include Art history, gardening, painting, all kinds of music- I am enjoying learning to play the piano - , beach combing and going for walks with teddy our terrier. We are currently embarking on a rewilding project at home and are excited by the increase of wild flowers, insects and birds; orchids, butterflies, great crested newts, turtle doves, barn owls to name a few.
