*SUPPORT COOKE CITY/SILVER GATE* The June 2022 flooding of southern Montana was devastating. We are so sad the northern sector of Yellowstone will be closed for most of this summer. Cooke City is still open and you can still have a great time here. Now is a great time to visit: fewer crowds, less traffic, plus you will be supporting small businesses that need your support. These log cabins are open in hopes that we can continue paying our excellent staff and support our beloved town.

The space
This cabin is an adorable studio log cabin. It has a propane heater inside, a small kitchenette, a bathroom with a walk in shower and 2 beds. There is toilet paper, a mini fridge, a double hot plate, microwave, coffee maker and dishes available for use. Clean linens are provided. The lighting is low and not great for reading or doing much.

Where you’ll be

Cooke City-Silver Gate, Montana, United States

Currently Winter Time:
The only road into Cooke during the winter is through Yellowstone National Park (fees apply) from the entrance in Gardiner MT (Western entrance). It is also possible to trailer up snowmobiles, park at Pilot on highway 212 and ride in less than ten miles on snowmobiles to Cooke City (Eastern entrance). Permits are required for snowmobiles. Permits and more info can be obtained at the Exon or Bearclaw Bob's. There are four consistent restaurants in town during winter, two of them serve liquor, one only serves breakfast (best in town). Everything you need is in town is with in walking distance.

Summer Time:
Everything you'll need can be found right off the Highway 212 and most places are with in walking distance. You can get to Cooke from either direction, through Yellowstone National Park exiting the North East Gate or by using Beartooth Highway and/or Chief Joseph Highway. You can find ATVs to rent in town and drive out onto trails surrounding the tiny city. Horseback rides are also available nearby.

We live in Cooke City year-round and love it! It's a challenging place to live, but we have adapted and enjoy being surrounded by nature and out of cell phone range. Our company is JT's Upkeep and Property Management LLC and it helps a number of cabins in Cooke City and Silver Gate. We own property near Joshua Tree National Park that we hope to add to our hosting in the coming years!
