We had an amazing stay at Bend in the River. Justy was an amazing host & Geoff made the stay extra special with his tour of the property and birdlife. Bend in the River is a slice of paradise - just magic. I would highly recommend it for a relaxing getaway close to beaches & all modern conveniences.

Fantastic location for our weekend away catching up with a bunch of friends. We really enjoyed sitting on the porch overlooking the gardens with fruit trees and all the different birds. The house was just as described, cute and rustic. Would definitely recommend it. Thanks for the lovely cake baked for us too!

We loved our time at Bend of the River - perfect for some family bonding time. We stayed with our 2 young children and grandparents - everyone got something out of the trip. The highlight was the birdwatching and chook feeding but personally I spent hours looking at all the beautiful artworks, books, magazines and the view. An inspirational place to spend a weekend. Thanks to Justy for being a kind and thoughtful host too.

This is a wonderful established Queenslander home set on acreage with an international fruit orchard, roaming hens-guinea fowl-peacocks and an ambience unlike no other. If you are looking for a relaxing get away with family or friends or a place to host an event (they have had weddings here) contact Justy who radiates vibrancy just like the heritage homestead.

This is a unique scenic property: it is secluded yet close to everything the Gold Coast offers including Burleigh and Palm Beach. The farm animals, fruit trees and the view of the river were delightful. Inside, the historic Queenslander, the art works, varied interesting books, free wifi and well stocked kitchen made for a relaxing holiday.

The house and the surroundings are just amazing. The house is very close to the beach and everything you would expect from the Gold Coast, yet far away from the crowd. Geoff, the housekeeper, was very friendly and helped us with everything we needed during our stay. Justy, whom we met at the end of our stay, was also very nice and friendly. The house itself is full of interesting aboriginal art, it tells the history of the area as well as the history of the familiy. It is very well kept and full of character.

What a gorgeous property! This place has such old world charm and was the perfect place to get ready with my Bridesmaids for my wedding. The place is cosy, well stocked and so peaceful - it ticked all of the boxes. Highly recommend.

I'm a Sydneysider who now lives in Queensland. The farm has been our family holiday home for over 40 years. Every school holidays I eagerly looked forward to spending time here – waking to the birds, horseriding, swimming in the surf, bushwalking, collecting eggs, growing and cooking fresh vegetables. I have travelled and lived in Europe, Asia and South America.
I recently gave up my career as a Solicitor in Sydney to escape to the serenity of the farm and Tallebudgera area where I now look after the property and work as a remedial massage therapist.
I enjoy gardening and cooking (especially trialling new recipes using our exotic fruit – some of my recent successes have been yellow mangosteen cheesecake and black sapote tiramisu), teaching kids these skills and keeping a vegetable patch. I generally go to the local farmers markets of a weekend for the weekly shop and to catch up with the local producers.
I love welcoming people to the farm and hosting friends and guests.
