Tucked on a hillside near a lively creek. An experience of peace away from all modern buzz. Specially prepared to welcome you and comfortable in warm or cool. Hosts can assist in delivering groceries and bags as you walk only 5 minutes to a bliss! Discounts for 3rd night or returnees offered. Please enquire.
The setting is unique. The feeling you've arrived at a place tucked up in the trees, that no one knows about! Trees come right up through the decks. The wood work is exquisite. It is so cozy and comfortable. The space keeps warm with just the wood stove fired up in the morning in cold months. It also keeps cool in the warm months, being in the woodland canopy. And there is a fabulous shower! Suitable for agile folk only.
Guests will be able to walk the surrounding woods, being mindful of unkept paths and private neighbor areas. There are more elaborate, equally wonderful walks a short drive away and wineries, restaurants and music/theatrical venues close to and in the 4 towns that are all within 30 minutes of the Cabin.
Interaction with guests
Hosts will greet guests on arrival, get your vehicle tucked in its parking then support you and your luggage down the short hill trail to the cabin. Unless you choose Self Check-in. Once there Julie will introduce you to the cabin and some of the finer details of its functioning, including the on-demand hot water system and the compost toilet. The wood-fired hot tub, which is situated at the Pavilion Deck near the top of the hill (where WIFI is available) can be booked for guests 2nd night. Hosts will happily prepare it when there is no fire ban. There is a service fee of $20 first soak and $10 each night after that. This can be paid as cash or check at check-out time.
Flashlights are provided for the short walk. Please wear safe shoes!
Other things to note
It is advisable to wear sturdy shoes (not flip-flops) for hillside walking. Trails in the woods are wild and uneven. This place suits physically agile folk. We ask respect be shown to our neighbors by noting the private areas. We live simply and work mostly outside; we don't text, tweet, tumble or anything else! So bear with us please as we answer you on our landline phone! Keeps things peaceful, and slowed down around here! Cabin is Wi-Fi Free. Hot Tub Pavilion has WIFI.
Our guests are recommending 3 nights minimum! Please note our check in time is 4pm with flexibility for journey delays. If arrival cannot help being very late hosts will give info to guest to allow them to get to the cabin and settle themselves - and then we'll meet and greet the following day!
The cabin is compact. There are 2 'upstairs' spaces. We request that guests take great care walking up and down the stairs, and try to keep mud/ woodland debris, out as much as possible. All tobacco smoking please OUTSIDE!
Please no oil on the bedsheets and please no perfume use in the cabin at all. We keep the cost down with no cleaning fee - our guests seem to leave the cabin beautifully, so everyone wins! I own a dog who gets distressed if other guest dogs come, so I do not permit other dogs. Apologies! A discount is offered for 3rd night stays, & for returnees...please enquire!
A retired Montessori teacher, ex-Kenya, living on a small acreage which I garden myself. My husband and I enjoy eating produce freshly harvested. Spend my time gardening, water color painting and hiking in the woods with my jack russell.
I also enjoy cooking meals from scratch! And when time allows, a simple camping trip to my husband's favorite fishing spots in the area is also a delight!
