Set in idyllic Welsh countryside, this C17th barn was the granary of what is now a working sheep farm. Perfect base for golf (Celtic Manor and several local courses nearby), walking and exploring the Monmouthshire countryside.

The space

Surrounded by countryside, this is an ideal retreat for up to five people in three bedrooms, with two bath/shower rooms. Step outside into the gardens and farmyard or walk into the fields. It's all on your doorstep. This is a working farm so you might have to open the gates or make way for the sheep. We have sheep, a few cows, a horse and a dog. There are also sheep dogs from time to time.

Guest access

Provisions for a continental breakfast provided so you can be independent and enjoy a late start.
There is a TV (not Sky) and a small selection of Blu ray films.
You can walk anywhere on the farm and in the woods - at your own risk - but do not enter a field with either cows or horses.
Keep out of the farm barns and off stacked wood and woodchip - all of which can be dangerous.
For children - how about bringing your tent and camping in the orchard? If you change your mind, you can just pop back into the barn. March and April is a good time to see the lambs; August/September is good for picking blackberries.

Interaction with guests

The barn, known as The Granary, is on the farm-yard along with the main house, a second letting barn, known as Barnaby, and a couple of modern working barns. There is ample parking and you can have access to the lawns and gardens in front of the barn.

Other things to note

There are some excellent restaurants in the area:
The White Hart, Llangibby - check recent change of ownership
The Hardwick, Abergavenny
The Angel, Abergavenny
The Raglan Arms, Llandenny

Good pubs with food:
The Carpenters' Arms, Coed y Paen
The Greyhound

Everything about this airbnb is lovely. It is an amazing building, set amid rolling countryside, Elizabeth has created beautiful gardens which surround the house.

Elizabeth's farm is set in some of the UK's most stunning countryside. It's an area we hadn't really had chance to explore and were blown away. On their land is a gorgeous forest and plenty of sheep and cows that our little boy loved. The lack of wifi and phone reception was overall a blessing for us but good to think about before arriving (we wanted to look up a few local excursions while we were there and struggled!). Elizabeth was always close by if we needed anything and was both friendly and professional. The barn is gorgeous, thoughtfully converted, with lots of room downstairs and comfy beds upstairs. I think we'll be back!

Beautiful setting and house. We were welcomed by a very friendly puppy called Bertie. It was just what we needed for an event in Cardiff. Beautiful garden and surroundings too, such a shame we couldn't stay longer!

Such a beautiful, spacious, airy barn conversion in a gorgeous setting. It was perfect for our short weekend getaway - we really wanted utter escapism and this fully delivered that! No wifi/signal meant no distractions, so it was complete relaxation. It was just the two of us staying but the barn didn't feel too big. We surfed at Porthcawl on the Sunday and it only took about an hour, so decent distance for the coast. Didn't explore any of the surrounding villages but looks like there's some good walking roundabouts. It really did have the feel of staying at a French chateaux/gite - stunning surrounding (although we were dead lucky with the weather!).

We are back home after a truly perfect weekend here. The setting is breathtaking. Sooo peaceful & thoroughly enjoyed the wifi / phone free weekend. We were blessed with the most glorious weather which completely made it for us. We were here to celebrate our Grandmas 90th birthday & Liz couldn't do enough to help. A pleasure! Barn is beautifully spacious & decorated with all we needed. We would definitely recommend this for a peaceful getaway! Lots of farmland to explore with the most fNtastic views!

A great place to stay in a beautiful and peaceful setting. My boys loved cycling up and down the quiet drive. The house is very well appointed with plenty of space (on reflection, it's probably a good thing that there's no wifi - no distractions). It was really helpful to have some basic provisions left in the fridge for when we arrived - we'd come from Cornwall and hadn't stopped to pick up milk, bread, tea & coffee, but they were there in the kitchen. Also very useful to have use of a washing machine when you've got a young family.
