Melissa’s Place is lovely! Very well decorated, super clean and had everything we needed. We stayed here for Thanksgiving so really enjoyed the fire and full use of the kitchen. Location wise, we were very near all of the main attractions but as Melissa suggests Uber taxis are probably advisable in the evening. The area is clearly going through some development but we had absolutely no problems and the neighbours were very friendly. Melissa and Mike were fantastic hosts who responded very quickly and made us feel very welcome with extra touches like fruit and bottle of wine left for us. We really enjoyed our stay here and considering the prices of many other properties in Charleston, this is an absolute bargain. Thank you! :)

This place was very cozy, clean, and nice. We could tell how much work the owners did to renovate it. It's close to many attractions and was only a $6-$7 Lyft or Uber ride to downtown or King St. We also enjoyed walking around the West Edge area during the day. It's important to note, the exact location of the house is in a run down under developed area, but there are nice houses/ neighborhoods less than a block away. We never felt unsafe and did not walk around at night, only during the day. It appears that the neighborhood will continue to grow and become more developed over time. We stayed at this place for a bargain deal and it was so nice to spend our money on great food and experiences instead. The hosts were easy to communicate with and very quick to respond. I even left my pillow there and they quickly agreed to ship it to me when I asked! We had a great time.

My husband, dog and I stayed here for a week. We arrived late and had made arrangements with Melissa to be able to get into the house. The house itself was charming and made good use of the space. There were nice little welcoming touches that made our stay more comfortable. The neighborhood is a bit rough and I was glad we had our dog with us. There were nights when there was loud music late or you heard fighting but luckily we are night owls so it did not keep us up too much later than normal. The house is about a 5 minute drive to the heart of downtown Charleston. Melissa was very helpful in answering our questions and offering advice on things to do in the area.

The house is a very cute and cozy remodel—it’s great if you’re looking to spend the night there and be out and about all day. You may be more comfortable using an Uber than walking—typically ~$7 to the downtown area.

I am a rheumatologist living in Charleston with my family for almost 12 years. I work at nearby MUSC, as does my husband who is a neuroscientist. We love traveling, going to festivals, boating, and eating, thus Charleston has been a perfect fit for us. Plus, we have a 5yo and Grandma lives here too! :)
