The house is only a few minutes drive from the very popular surfing beaches of Farr and Strathy and also near the village of Bettyhill.

Located just off the North Coast 500 tourist route and only a short drive to the ferry terminal to visit Orkney.

The space
ONE bedroom cottage with bathroom, kitchen and living room.

On viewing the house from the front, the bedroom located on the left of the house and living room on the right. The kitchen is located at the rear of the house and is accessed via the living room or rear entrance.
The bathroom is located adjacent to the front door, off the hallway.
Facilities include;

Main Bedroom ****Sleeps up to 4****

King size bed (2 adults),
2 x fold down beds (suitable for 2 children ) , wardrobe and chest drawers.

Living Room

Multi fuel burner, Freeview TV, DVD player, ipod player, cd player, books, board games and clothes horse for drying those wet items on those damp days ;-)
There is one travel cot and one baby booster feeding seat (straps into dining chair) available for families with young children.
Kitchen - Fold out dining table (4 seats), ceramic hob, oven, washing machine, fridge freezer, kettle, toaster, microwave, slow cooker , iron & board.
Bathroom - Electric shower, wash hand basin, toilet, hairdryer, shelving area and cupboard, Hoover, bucket and mop.
Outside - Log store, Outside table, 6 chairs, umbrella and washing line. There is a small area for using disposable bbq' s on.

PETS - Pets are welcome free of charge, HOWEVER NOT PERMITTED ON FURNITURE (COUCHES AND BEDS). Please respect our home and other guests who may have allergies.

This area is crofters land and cattle roam freely and often will enter the garden area, so only well behaved pets are advised to stay here.

NOT SUITABLE FOR PEOPLE WHO HAVE DIFFICULTY WALKING or WHEELCHAIRS.

CHECK IN -1600 hours. If an earlier check in is requested via email it will be considered if the house is available.

CHECK OUT -1000 hours. A later check out can requested and will be considered if there are no other bookings that day.

Cleaning - We request that guests leave our home as they find it. There is plenty of cleaning products within the house to keep the house tidy and allows other guests to check in at a reasonable time to enjoy their stay. If the log burner is used, this must be cleaned out at the end of your stay.

Bed linen and towels provided for the number of guests on the booking request.

Please note the local authority have strict conditions on noise between 2300 hours and 0700 hours. Please respect this at all times.

Guest access
The house is accessed via a key safe at the property. The key safe is located at the rear door beside the window.
The owners do not reside nearby however can be contacted by email or phone if required..

SHOPPING - There is one local shop with basic provisions about 5 minutes drive at Bettyhill.

Thurso is about 30 minutes drive and there you will find butchers, bakers etc and 3 large supermarkets (Tesco, Lidl and Co-Operative)

Our neighbours have fresh eggs available daily.

Online Delivery can be arranged via Tesco Stores. Delivery prices range from £1.50 and slots are available 20 days in advance. Appointments book quickly due to this service being great value for money (return journey of 1 hour 30 minutes and 56 miles)

For those guests travelling with young children you are never far from farm animals anyway, but you only have to walk out to the next door neighbour's garden to see chickens, hens, goats, horses and ponys.

The house is only a few minutes drive from the very popular surfing beaches of Farr and Strathy and also near the village of Bettyhill where visitors can go for a dip in the public swimming pool or relax in their steam room or Jacuzzi.

Other points of interest nearby are the natural wonder of Smoo Cave, Durness, Dunnethead and Dunnethead Lighthouse (which is the most northerly point of the UK), Cocoa Mountain chocolate factory and beautiful Reay Golf Course.

My name is Jayne Higgins. I am the mother of 2 wonderful children, Hope and Ben. I who work full time as a nurse for the NHS. This house has been in our family for 4 generation's. The house is currently owned by my mum Margaret McArthur and Aunt Isobel. Within the house there are old photos of my grandparents, uncles, mother and aunt etc all enjoying their time on holiday over the last 100 years including during two wars.
