Craggley is a beautiful cottage set in the heart of West Burton which is often described as the most picturesque village in the Dales. West Burton has superb amenities including a large village green, pub, tea room, village shop and family butchers - all steps away from magnificent walks! The cottage is tastefully decorated with a large walled garden, stunning views and even a Shepherds Hut to give extra space to relax. Everything you need for a memorable Dales holiday in a beautiful village.

The space
Craggley has been awarded a Four Star Gold Award from Visit England and also the specialty awards of Walkers/Cyclists/Families/Pets which really helps Craggley stand out from the crowd. The property is a delightful 2 bedroom cottage with
a large double bedroom and a twin, the bathroom has shower/bath and modern finish. The lounge has a Smart TV and a wood burning stove which supplements the central heating which leads to an attractive dining kitchen. The kitchen is fully stocked with everything you will need and as with the rest of the cottage has been recently refurbished and beautifully finished to exacting standards with a stable door leading into the gardens.

Externally there is rear garden with a seating area leading to a large walled garden with stunning views of Bishopdale and Wensleydale, it really does need seeing as the photographs never quite do it justice.

The garden also has a large shed that can be used for storage and is ideal for bikes if you are a planning a cycling holiday and re-creating parts of The Tour de Yorkshire.

In the garden we have a Shepherds Hut complete with arm chairs, wine cooler, wood burning stove plus a dining area to spend long summer days or cosy winters nights enjoying superb views down the valley. It also has Broadband Infinity WiFi and a smart TV with a HDMI face plate which can be used for Consoles/Music which ensures it can be enjoyed by adults, children or used as a family.

The cottage is packed with everything you need to enjoy your break and we think(hope!) we have covered all eventualities to make it a home from home, this makes it perfect for a couple or a family as both can enjoy a break in the dales.

We offer Craggley with a minimum stay of 3 nights and any day check in but in peak periods this changes to 7 night minimum with check in on a Friday - Please just ask if you need any help or have any questions

Where you’ll be

West Burton, England, United Kingdom

West Burton is considered to be one of the most beautiful villages in the Yorkshire Dales National Park with a large village green and no through road.

Children can play safely on the Green using the play park of football goals while parents watch on from a number of seats or even from the seating outside the pub.

Also, within the village is the West Burton Cauldron Falls one of the waterfalls drawn by Turner during his tour of the North of England.

West Burton has a real sense of community with a village shop/tearoom, pub and family run butcher's shop.

There is also plenty for the visitor to see and do, as well as The Old Smithy Antiques there is Moorside Design Cat Pottery and country shop/weaver's studio, Fabric of the Field.

For further information and useful websites, please see below:

The Old Smithy Antiques and Collectables

The Cat Pottery : Moorside Design
A family run business producing its original collection of cats in ceramics and metal or granite resin.

Hartle's Butchers

The Home Farmer - Milk Vending
The Home Farmer based in Wensleydale has a milk vending machine on the village green on a Monday(10am -8pm), Thursday(10am-8pm) and Friday(6am-9am) - Not only is the milk fantastic but it is also great fun!

Fox and Hounds Inn
A traditional pub serving home cooked meals and real ale whether you want breakfast, lunch over looking the green or a dinner after a day in the Dales

Fabric of the Field

Ramsay's Fish and Chip Van
Tuesday night is Fish and Chip night in West Burton, the pub is always full of anticipation as people enjoy a drink while waiting for the van to arrive as it tours Wensleydale.

We also like calling into Berry's Farm Shop for breakfast, brunch, lunch or dinner which is only 5 minutes away in Spennithorne, they run great farm tours if you have little ones or you can walk down to Redmire falls if you want to walk off lunch.

You can order fresh fish from the village shop in West Witton which is 5 minutes down the road, Withywood Stores can order from the suppliers of the Wensleydale Heiffer which can be done daily

Cauldron Falls
One of the prettiest waterfalls in Wensleydale, located in a secluded corner of the village.

Walking Country
West Burton forms the starting point for a number of walks to suit all levels of fitness and we have put together a file of walks which we hope you find useful.

Its central Wensleydale location brings many of the Yorkshire tourist attractions within easy driving distance. These include the towns of Hawes and Leyburn as well as the Wensleydale Railway, Hardraw Force, Wensleydale Creamery, Wensleydale Brewery, Middleham Castle and the Forbidden Corner.

We are Michael and Ashleigh and we would like to welcome you to West Burton and our beautiful cottage in the Yorkshire Dales National Park. Our family have had a love affair with the Yorkshire Dales for years and we have spent years of happy holidaying in the area and even got married in Simonstone Hall before deciding to buy our own cottage, so we could continue to enjoy the area with our 2 children, Sam and Millie and our recent addition of Scotty the Cockapoo. We use local trades people and do everything we can to support the local communities and businesses and hope our guests will do the same and enjoy the hospitality that the Dales are famous for. We think, although maybe with a slight bias, that we have a beautiful cottage in a beautiful village and hope our guests feel the same when using Craggley, this is our main aim and we will do everything possible to ensure this is the case in either offering support or suggestions/tips for the surrounding area. Happy to answer any questions or supply information that we may have missed on our website The Scott’s
