Great location
94% of recent guests who stayed nearby gave the location a 5-star rating.
This home is a 1924 bungalow and has been completely restored. The space is very light and bright due to the beautiful original windows and the new dutch doors. The home is filled with interesting antiques and the hardwood floors have recently been finished, which is why we do not allow any pets or children under 15. The bathroom has plenty of space, a heated floor and we provide towels. The bedrooms have plenty of closet space and are equipped with new, very effective AC units.

The space
The kitchen is open and functional. It has everything you need to cook a full meal. There is a toaster and microwave. We try to keep a good selection of coffee and tea on hand. There is also VirtuoLine Nespresso machine and we will do our best to have pods available. Bring your own if you have a favorite!

Our home is the perfect match for a couple, a single traveler, 2-4 girl/guy friends, 2 couples or parents with 1 -2 children over 15.

Guest access
Check in is via a lockbox - code sent prior to check in. You will have the entire main floor to yourselves which includes everything pictured on the page. We may or may not be in our upstairs apartment while you are staying in the home. When we do not have guests, we use the downstairs space so some of our items will be in the home. The fireplace is original and NOT functional. You can sit and enjoy your coffee, a nice glass of wine, or the beverage of your choosing on the large shaded front porch or the sunlight dappled raised deck off of the kitchen. We do not recommend trying to use the backyard as it is currently a native plant restoration project :) aka. not landscaped.

Other things to note
The plumbing has been redone but is still very SENSITIVE. Please be aware of this when flushing things down the toilet. You will be responsible for any unclogging that is necessary. Also, there is no dishwasher and the the pipes are not made to filter debris. Please use the traps in the sink and empty them into the garbage. Once again, any clogging will be your responsibility.

Location

Central Northeast Portland, Portland, Oregon

Our neighborhood is a nice "slice of pie" between the Hollywood, Beaumont and Rose City Park neighborhoods. We often feel like we live in an urban park due to the quiet, the birdsong, the abundance of plant life and the proximity to greenways and bike lanes. However, we can walk two blocks to Fire on the Mountain restaurant and brewery at 57th and Fremont. From there, you can continue walking West on Fremont hitting many local favorites such as: Jim and Patty's Coffee Shop, Alameda Brewing, Found, Amalfi's, Starbucks, Pip's Donuts, Prince Coffee, Grand Central Baking, and the Beaumont Market. In the other direction toward Sandy, within 10 minutes, you will find Case Study Coffee, Buddha Chocolate, Bake Shop, Cabezon and Hogan's Goat Pizza.

During your stay
We travel too, so we may or may not be living in the apartment above you during your stay. If we are, you will probably hear our footsteps as it is an older home with creaky floors. We or a helper host will be available to answer questions via messaging during your stay. If we bump into each other that's great, but if not, that's ok too.
