The space

Our cozy two bedroom house is located on one of the few remaining "true" villages of Mount Pelion. Whether a winter or a summer traveller the village and house offer the ideal getaway for what will certainly be a relaxing vacation.

With a great sense of respect to traditional architecture and a lot of "meraki" (ask me what that means!) by our family of engineers and architect, the house is ideal for families with children or a small group of close friends.

The house stands a mere 10m from the village's main road and an empty lot right in front of the house makes it easily accessible (a novelty for any Pelion village, known for their stone paved pedestrian streets inaccessible to cars)

At a bit over 100 square meters the house can accommodate up to 7 people whether be it two families with children or two couples looking for a relaxing break away from the stressful city life. The ground floor consists of the master bedroom with its own small bathroom, isolating it essentially from the rest of the house, the second bedroom with its own fireplace and a corridor with two bunk beds which leads to the second main bathroom. Both bedrooms have direct access to the patio.

The wooden staircase leads to the top floor where the open area consisting of the kitchen, the dining area and a sitting area with the fireplace is located. The main entrance of the house is located on this level with direct access to the first floor patio which is ideal for sitting at any time of the day. During the summer the vines offer unique shade from the sun. A bbq is available for use by the guests.

We stayed at Greg's place in Drakia in September. Unfortunately we didn't met Greg personally, but her mother, Neni, and her sister were extremely hospitable. The house is made with soul and you feel that it's not just a place for renting. It's a place, loved by Greg and his family. We saw many photos of them, even young Greg's one. Regarding house - it's rather comfortable, well designed and equipped. It is smaller than you think about it looking at photos. Plenty space for parking in front of the house. Small terrace with table, grill, small fountain and fresh grapes above you. Note, that you'll need about 50-60 min to reach nearst Eastern beaches of Pelion. Western part is closer, but water and beaches are not so nice. Pelion's nature is wonderful. When you cross mountains by car and suddenly entering the cloud, which is lying and sleeping on the road - it's amazing feeling. You will not see any yellow and dry grass and trees. It's unbelievable for Greece in September, in my opinion. Sometimes I thought that we're in Ireland, but not in Greece, because of many hues of green color. And only plenty of olive trees, red apple trees and pure Aegean see sparkling under the sun tell you - It's Greece, man! Thank you for accommodation, Greg! Say hello to your mother.

This house is one of the best places we ever stayed in! (And even though it has some very good photos it looks much better in real life). Greg was very warm and welcoming and showed us everything inside and around the house. He also explained some more about PELION peninsula in general and the village in particular. The village of Drakia is set in a lovely surrounding and is one of the closest to Volos (15 minutes drive), which is the biggest nearest city of the region - with large supermarkets, restaurants and other services. The beautiful beaches of the Pagasetic Gulf (on one side) can be reached in less than 30 minutes drive, and the spectacular beaches of the Aegean Sea (on the other side of the peninsula) are accessible within 45 to 60 minutes drive. Greg was very kind and bought some food (cheeses, bread, jams, orange juice, soda etc.) before we arrived and left it for us in the fridge. He even left a big cooler in order to take along when we leave the house for the whole day. The house itself is unique and very spacious and has a very well equipped kitchen. We didn’t need anything besides good fresh products, which one can find almost everywhere in GREECE. It seems that it can easily accommodate one more family of 3 or 4… It’s very clean and tidy and looks like a place that people live in, and therefore has a functioning washing machine, stove and a refrigerator big enough to host 4 persons and even more. The only thing we thought we would be missing is the air condition or even a ceiling fan. To our surprise, even the hottest week of this summer in Greece (on the day we arrived it was 42 degrees Celsius!) became a very moderate one and we even used some warm blankets for two nights (with 14 degrees Celsius outside…) afterwards. We had a really wonderful time in GREECE in general and especially in PELION and its beaches. Staying in Greg’s house just made our vacation one of a kind and a whole lot better! We would probably come back sometime soon, and we would definitely recommend this place! Thanks again, Greg, it has been a real pleasure :)

Response from Greg:
Thank you Ioanna for your kind words! We are glad you enjoyed the non-touristy side of Pelion which we also like. hank you for leaving the place in an excellent condition. I take the liberty to translate your review for our non greek speaking friends: The house is beautifully restored and decorated with a great sense of taste. All the areas are very functional and we had at our disposal all that we needed. Our host had graciously considered filling the refrigerator with some essential breakfast foods. The village is also very interesting and not touristy at all, which for us was very important as Pelion can be overwhelming by all the visitors during the months of July-August. At the village’s restaurant we had one of our vacation’s finest meals.
